People like her are the REASON I'm proud to be from Tennessee. THIS is what the south is SUPPOSED to be. Kind, accepting, loving, just so open and kind of person that you could knock on their door and say you are struggling (in ANY regard) and would be welcomed with open arms, a hug, and free dinner. THAT'S what the south is. Doesn't matter who the person or group is. They are supposed to be able to show up on your doorstep looking or seeming as freaky, weird, ignorant, wrong, or whatever -- and a TRUE southern person is going to welcome them into their house and give them a good southern cooked meal with lots of hugs and love. THATS what the south is SUPPOSED to be.

@Greg Normal well I'm from Europe so I'm not as familiar with US Country music so I don't pretend to be very knowledgeable about her songs, although I know a few of the bigger hits of course. I like the Coat of many colours, because of what it represents to her and the story it tells about people who don't have much making the best of life. When I said I was a fan of her I was speaking more from appreciation of her work and achievements and character :) so sorry if I misled you there :) but well nobody can deny I think that she has a beautiful voice!

He was willing to wait 2return home so I could go but I told him no you're more important. That was the last time 7 members of our family, 4 generations, were on a trip together. My husband and father in law have since passed but I'll never regret that decision. I'm now retired with grandchildren of my own. I'll visit there as soon as I can with them in honor of My family.

When she would sing the last song of her show, in front of a butterfly , Whitney did well with it. I love her version, but it's Dolly's version that I hear from my twelve year old ears in my memory. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU ! Thank y YOU Dolly. When I was alone, dad and abused, I knew my mom and I would come out of it okay. Thank you forever, Brian

Whitney sang it with all the fancy vocals, but Dolly sang it from the heart. When Whitney sang it, it was like a performance but when Dolly sang it I could feel every word and note.

Bianking4Life you really need to plan to go. The drive is beautiful in those hills. Yes it really does have a lovely southern charm. That house was very tiny she lived in and the old church she went to is there. The southern cooking and homemade candy is amazeing! But here is the thing that takes your breath,,, I've known Dolly to be a praying woman, one that loves deeply. The moment you step on the property a peace washes over you, you suddenly feel in love with everyone lol the atmosphere is heavenly. She truly kept her promise to God: Lord if you let me sing, I will come back and give back to these hills, and that she surely did. Thank you Dolly, you are loved.

What's with the dislikes? It's one thing if some people are not a fan of Dolly's, but it's another to downright dislike her. What the hell did she ever do to anyone? NOTHING but give love, a kind smile and kind words. I love Dolly. She's my all time favorite since 1982. A wonderful, down-to-earth lady. And lots, lots, lots of God-given talent.
