Jotaro vs Dio was cool at the end of part 3, but Jonathan vs Dio always seemed a lot better for me. The whole story they have together, they being opposites of each other, the feelings that existed between them(even Dio created feelings for Jonathan, as he admits at the end. Also the respect, something that few get from Dio) all this makes the whole confrontation/relationship between Jonathan and Dio much more cool and interesting for me.

2:26 has to be the most funniest thing that DIO has ever said.

God this will always be my favorite fight in Jojos. The way he takes down Dio who’s a vampire without the use of Hamon and just his fighting spirit.

Interestingly enough, Jonathan's stand is unofficially a stronger version of Hermit Purple allegedly called "Passion." DIO can technically use this stand, too. It's seen some in part 3 when DIO uses it to track the Stardust Crusaders. I encourage you to check the wiki on it. It's really neat!

I love how even before Jonathan uses his belt to grab Dio, the broken spearhead just happened to be falling within his reach and he used it for that first jump. Kinda like how in Battle Tendency, Joseph's severed hand gets launched by a volcanic eruption right into Kars' neck. Actually, there's something similar with Jonathan kicking the wall and impaling Dio on the statue, and Joseph pulling out the Red Stone of Aja to survive Kars' Hamon strike and start the volcanic eruption. There are points in both Part 1 and Part 2 where the Jojos kinda just luck out and do things without consciously knowing why, but they only happen during the most emotionally climactic fights when they seem hopelessly outmatched, so I've never felt dissatisfied.

WRYWRYWRYWRY sounds like revving up a 1987 nissan

While the later battles with the stands were more creative, many of which I liked more, I still think this battle was the most intense. It's pretty much the closest the show gets to real-time fighting, unlike the much more turn-takerish stand battles where it feels like they could just keep monologuing for as long as they want without any danger as long as it's their 'turn.' This fight is constantly moving the whole way through, minimal exposition, and not just Jonathan and Dio fighting, but the mansion around them burning as well, like the environment itself is part of the fight, too. My favourite example of this is 1:50-2:05. The fact that Jonathan has to do not one, but TWO actions in so little time, all while falling and burning (jumping and using his belt) and just barely managing it... it's the epitome of intense. Amazing.
