Day 73. I just noticed we (you) are approaching 10K subscribers. I recall subscribing around 2-3K (Mississippi trip). I think this ADT has given you a boost!

We are getting close. I still have a screenshot from Florida where I had about 30 subscribers. We had a few more than 3k on the Mississippi. I seem to recall locking Blondie in a portapotty and saying she wasn’t going to come out until we had 5,000 subscribers. Because the door was locked.

I followed one hiker a year on the AT. Matt was the fourth. Since then I have just followed Matt and Jen and their adventures! I will also follow anyone that hikes on the Buckeye trail.

There was talk of Marvel movies early in the video and then we get a post credit scene talking about corn… love it. The best dynamic duo on KZread!

Idr where the KZread machine plonked me down on this series, but I was intrigued enough to go back and watch from the beginning. Interesting to see my home state, MD, from a different perspective, unfortunate it so much of it was road walking on busy roads. Trivia fact: the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is only open to pedestrian traffic during an annual 10k run/fun walk in the fall. Not my idea of fun, get sweaty palms driving over. The C&O towpath section may convince me further that I need to plant a seed in my mom's head that we should bike it as a celebration of her retirement in a few years. Or maybe we go big and do the GAP (starts in Pittsburgh) and the C&O together 🚲 Happy to see y'all back on a trail system. Love the tiny critter cam, I too squeal "it's a turtle!" every time. Safe travels.

Oooo, nice trail in the forest (so far . . . ). Much better than endless road walks through endless corn fields. As for motorcyclists, I keep expecting them to mellow as they get older (it is increasingly an older demographic) but I guess that people, regardless of age, who delight in making loud and unnecessary levels of noise are still basically adolescents in nature, so yeah, they continue to bug me too. Not all of them (I hasten to say) but the majority of them delight in their "right" to behave in a disruptive fashion while stepping over other peoples' rights not to have their noise inflicted on them. Here endeth the soap box! Enjoy the rocks and the forest and Hike On! Tortoise

___ You probably know this but closing the umbrella, pointing it at the dog, and then springing it open at the crux moment sends all but the toughest dogs packing. In the rare instance where that doesn't work, two humans going all Maasai warrior helps (approach with spears or closed umbrellas from opposite sides. When the dog goes after one warrior, she retreats and the other warrior comes forward. The key is one warrior always in retreat, one on attack. You can keep this up for a long time. Having very large wooden shields decorated with giant eyeballs is a plus, but you can use packs. Save your sleeping mats for doing matador on bulls.)
