My question is what's the point? Because if coming off AD they have a two year involuntary recall deferment period then the whole time they're in the reserves they would in effect be non deployable unless they volunteer. So that brings it back full circle. Also, what was the response to your question?

Great observation! I think there is more to this than the little that was given. We would have to study the various instructions. Regarding my question, most people said it's impossible to get put in the brig because there are no requirements to stay in the SELRES. if you leave and never show up again, you'll just get an ADSEP. But you never know, things could change.

So what if our contract we signed specifically says 5 years active and 3 years inactive reserves. But we joined on or after that date. Are they saying that the contract I signed they arnt honoring and changing my contract without my consent?

I think the Navy just hasn't been doing a great Job at selling the Navy Reserves to Active Transitioning Sailors. This should have been pushed 20 years ago imo. I personally would have never thought of the Reserves if I didn't work at an NRC for my last active duty station. OAN, The Reserves and Active is TOTALLY DIFFERENT!!!!! Specifically the pay and training. If that's something you think you want to do. I'd say go for it.

Everyone should ask, do you really want to be a Reservest, weather part-time, full, .....Be the best, and remember, it's service to Country. We got to protect this house. Stop, sniveling, stop, waiting on disability , or bieing a ragamuffin, get the fuck up, and stay strong. You just don't know the shit, serious folk go through, just to be here and serve, and ain't nobody, got to beg them. So, let's get it together family.

Do you honestly feel that joining reserves is worth it from just being a civilian? I hear mixed reviews about the health insurance, benefits, etc. I know one Veteran who said it’s awesome but then another saying it’s terrible.

Sounds like they are preparing in case of war I know it’s probably gonna make people mad but it’s better for the navy to be prepared and be able to do its job instead of being short of sailers and having to call people that have been gone and are almost done with their contracts

FACTS!!!!! I wouldn't say I'm super patriotic but I'd absolutely go to war or back on active for my country. Somebody has to do it. Better the people who care than the ones that don't. Every since bootcamp, everything has been so serious to me. Even the Trainings. Imagine being at sea and an emergency happens but you're not prepared because you didn't think it would happen. Everyday was a possibility for war or emergency situtions in my mind. Maybe that's just me... wait, I think I'm patriotic 😅

  • @NavyTransitionCoach

FTS is the same as Active Duty!!! You will need to complete your contract before applying for medical school overseas. If you want to be an officer now, then go talk to an Officer Recruiter. I suggest researching the different officer programs in the Navy.
