CODE QUICK IS WHAT I USED TO LEARN THE CODE.......U DONT HAVE TO LEARN IT AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. AN EXAMPLE IS THE LETTER K IT IS TAUGHT AS "KANGAROO". THE LETTER D IS TAUGHT AS "DOG DID IT" AND E IS "EEK". F IS TAUGHT AS" DID I FAIL IT". SOUNDS FUNNY BUT AT ANY SPEED THEY SOUND THE SAME. THEY COME WITH FLASHCARDS. ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO AND GOOD WORK BROOKS..........RIDE THE WAVE THE CONTINUOUS WAVE!

Thanks for the inspiration. I’m working up the nerve to do my first activation. Just me, but I find I have more control and make fewer keying errors with a straight key.

Just go ahead and do it, and you will have a great time, whatever happens. You will make mistakes, but we all do, even Thomas (smile)

Brooks absolutely killed his first POTA activation. I am not quite confident enough to give CW POTA a go yet (hopefully soon), but really appreciated watching someone else’s first go at it

Is all of the IC-705 case plastic? If so, how is the heat getting out of it?

It is all plastic. It seems to be engineered so that heat really isn't an issue under normal (not in full sunlight) conditions.
