@strawberry smith The choice of names is just perfect, whether it's Swiss Tony, Dave Angel or Johnny Black. They fit the characters... Teddy Pumpkin creates mental images of a slightly wierd geeky boyfriend.

I love the fact that he says things like "I'll just paint this lovely little bridge aaah! black the despair of blackness"

That scream tho.

I never saw this one on tv. Awesome!

Being the only sane sibling of a brother and a sister with schizophrenia, this is what it's been like every weekend, birthday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day in out family home for the past 27 years. They're kicking off and smashing things up around you, while you try and stay calm and pretend everything's normal, when you're actually really disappointed that another nice day has been ruined by mental illness.

My older sister developed Schizophrenia when she was 15 while I was 10. So from 10 onwards my house was the same. My sister ripped the living room door of it's hinges once. One of the most traumatic episodes is when she thought I had died and she was crying on me, I was trying to tell her I was alive and fine but she was devistated and convinced she saw me die. Thankfully after years of experimenting doctors have found a dose of medication that keeps her relatively stable.

I don't understand why for so many years no one posted all of Johnny's adventures in one video from the beginning to the end

First time i watched this on TV..I weed a bit!

Black - like the schisms of laughter as they wired me in. Black - as the tendrilled Chupacabra a creep creep creeping through the blackest black undergrowth. Black - like the tiniest current plucked from the mother cake and roasted OHHHH so relentlessly roasted upon the blackened souls of Salem.

They cured him of his obsession with black. That's the good news... 🤣

Oh the insanity of depression . A dark world that spins in any direction it feels . Black and white bits are no problem you can cope with them, it's the coloured times that mess with your head .

Which episode or special is this? I've watched all 3 seasons over the last week or so, didn't see this one. I've also watched the specials, apart from the inside leg and the newest special.

I can't remember the actual names of the husband and wife painters, but they really captured thhe look of both here in this wonderful micky take.

Actually pure black is not really used that much in painting at least not for nature scenes.

I don't know much about painting, but I'm sure if you mix a lot of colors you get something close to black, so I guess pure black is not needed.

@@jugglerjim01 no worries man. It's got to exist somewhere online. I've been having trouble getting hold of Bo Selecta as well. Although I can just buy the DVDs for cheap. Another one I can't find is Harry Enfield's television program

It was never explained why Johnny didn't like the color black. I was telling a friend about Johnny the Nice Painter cos she's never seen The Fast Show and she thinks that Johnny may be a racist. Some of the crazy stuff he says when he freaks out over the color black hints that something traumatic happened to him as a child.

Classical style artists have a massive hang up about never using black as its considered, at best, cheating. Johnny Nice is portrayed as one of those kind of artists who has taken it to a neurotic level.

Sadly I didn't find this one funny. At all. The word that triggers Johnny's behaviour is "black". This is obviously a politically correct version. The sketch is now example of how politics wrecks humour. This is why Benny Hill was axed and ended up eating himself to death through depression.
