Amanda is an underrated part of the show. She’s basically like any one of us, a person viewing the madness going down and can’t do anything to stop it. If anything, she’s the character everyone can relate to realistically. I don’t see the hate with her.

I love Amanda. I like how Cobra Kai shows Daniel marrying someone he met as an adult not at school. It's realistic. And she supports him so much, while also calling him out when he is inconsiderate or stupid, but not in a toxic way. She doesn't feel threatened by Ali or Kumiko because she is secure in Daniel's love for her. She changes her mind on karate after being confronted with the evidence that it's not the problem. She supports Miyagi-do but wants Daniel to have balance between the dojo, family time, and work. Oh and she slaps Kreese across the face! What an icon!

As someone tired of Hollywoods fixation on gender politics...I love the way Amanda is written and performed...a breath of fresh air when it comes to modern female characters. Like you said...her relationship with Daniel seems realistic and makes sense...she's not simply written to be a foil to Daniel, she's a wife who supports her husband but speaks up when the situation calls for it. Great character.

Johnny gets along with Daniel I think he holds the last tournament against him and Daniel is too blockheaded to know where Johnny is coming from. I guess Miyagi died of the stress Daniel still put him through (jk) The only way Daniel and Johnny can completely reconcile and move forward is to have one last match like Apollo and Rocky had.

Amanda plays the role of a neutral character well. Despite being married to Daniel, she's not hostile to Johnny, doesn't have any past grudges or the likes, and is just trying to be down to Earth with everything. I'm glad that she's the wife of Daniel rather than Ali. Despite how they had a thing going back then in Karate Kid, her being the one there would complicate emotions further. By making Amanda, it allows some of the complicated feelings to lose tension.

It's a commom misconception about Skyler. She's not actually annoying. If you think about it, she behaves normally. But we are seeing the whole thing from Walters perspective so the writers wanted us to perceive her as annoying

She’s the meta-commentary. We all love cobra Kai, yet we all agree that the entire premise of a hardcore karate rival is absolutely ridiculous. 🤣

She is the example of a perfect wife, she calls you out on your bull shit, has your back when it really matters and helps keep you sane when an former highschool rival trys to fight you. Ok maybe that last part is just Amanda but still without her Daniel would be lost look how much she helps keep him sane that is A+ wife material right there.

I love how Amanda is basically the same throughout the entire show and she’s always cool with Johnny. I also love how she likes it , when Johnny gets a rise out of Daniel.

Amanda is one of my favourite characters and watching her interactions with Johnny are hilarious. Never noticed Johnny laugh tho when Amanda called Kreese a little shit, that was great.

I like how he's called pretty boy by everyone

I love Amanda, and I REALLY love the idea of her and Johnny going bar hopping! The scenes when they're together are GOLD!

And I don't understand why Amanda is even nice to Johnny when she called him an asshole in "Counterbalance"! It doesn't make any sense!

@@dennisardakis5857 because not everything is black and white. Jonny and Daniel were kids and Daniel did do some things to Jonny as well back then. The bill board was messed up, but so was Daniel trying to shut down his dojo. It's pretty clear that she just views the whole thing as a dumb rivalry. Also her viewing him as an asshole doesn't mean that they can't get along.

That line "Last time I went 4 rounds with Larusso, I caught a foot to the face" shows how close they are to finally being actual friends. The biggest thing standing in their way is mutual apologies for their behavior as teenagers. Johnny understands now how much of that behavior was the toxicity Kreese instilled in him, and his frustrations at his parents. And Daniel just needs to get over that while they targeted him, he wasn't solely a victim and he needs to apologize for the ways he instigated Johnny and his friends. They would still probably butt heads in their teaching styles of offense/defense focused karate, but they could peacefully coexist without the faction fighting if they could just grow up in their personal lives and let their past be in the past. And if they could get over their own egos, they could probably be functional friends and business partners.

3:46 the way the actress delivered this line made it look like the purest and most wholesome tone of voice, like the tone of a loving wife who cares for her husband

“Actually, it’s more like a no cop situation” that was probably the funniest line of season 3

she's one of the best things in the show. the opposite of the cliched 'nagging' wife. She cuts straight to the chase and through the crap and even gets a few solid laughs. She is also brilliant at watering down the melodrama with a self-aware wisecrack or two ....brilliant.

It’s so fascinating that johnny hates daniel his son and his daughter but has zero issues with his wife 😂

Well, Johnny held Daniel responsible for his life going downhill and every time they meet Daniel is extraordinarily smug and condescending to him. Sam and her friends smashed his beloved car which resulted in him having to see Daniel again. Anthony brings out Johnny's immature side with their childish insults. Amanda meanwhile never treats Johnny with anything but respect except for when she's telling them both off. The fact when Daniel and Johnny are in one of their petty arguments/fights and she doesn't automatically side with her husband is probably the best example of how she's the only one with perspective. Also I think it has to do with the fact she often plays Mom to the pair of them when they get out of hand. Johnny loved and respected his mother more than anyone else in the world.

That entire dynamic was absolutely amazing. And Amanda's own story of why she was so sympathetic towards Tory was so good. I think she's gonna be an even more vital character going forward, especially in regards to the issues between Tory and Sam.

I love Amanda's character and the actress is doing an amazing job. A grounded, smart and funny female character feels way too rare these days

‘Oh I’m sorry. My mistake’ I love Amanda. Which I’m mad about. Because I would love to have Daniel and Kumiko rekindle things. Or even a love triangle with the lovely Ali once again. But because Amanda’s so awesome she makes these options non starters.

Nah, I think they played it well. Aly was key in pushing a theme of season 3, which is the past vs the present. Johnny and Daniel trying to move forward from the high school drama and John Kreese stuck in the past. Aly was perfect in finally bringing the two guys onto good terms

Classic this was amazing writing and such chemistry like it had never left 1984 and Amanda and the other characters fit right in, just awesome.

That little "hey Amanda!" Is actually the cutest thing.

Goodness I love the chemistry and dialogue between Johnny and Daniel in season 3 episode 2. Daniel acting like the older brother is so wholesome

Amanda is pretty much the only character that can keep Daniel in check and make Johnny take a few steps back. Very underrated.

Amanda seems bisexual with the way she was acting with Carmen, I feel like she would be totally fine with the four of them hooking up, she could get with Carmen and Daniel and Johnny could hook up. Note: this is my nonserious headcanon, don't get upset if you disagree, I'm not trying to say anyone else needs to interpret those scenes the same way. Just as a bisexual woman myself, in a relationship with a man, I've had flirtatious moments with other women that remind me of how Amanda acts around Carmen and Ali. Not that I would act on it without mutual consent but it's that vibe of "yeah you're pretty, and I'm going to let you see that I see, cause it's fun".

Amanda LaRusso is the thing that makes anything about this show remotely plausible. She is basically an expositional character, or an avatar for the audience itself. Karate gangs in the 2020's is as stupid as it sounds, and having an in-universe personality calling it out at every opportunity makes it realistic.
