I will always remember Johnny Gilbert from 'Music Bingo' back in the 1950's. (Don't figure out my age. LOLOLOLOLOLOL). I also had the experience of seeing Mr. Gilbert announce 'Yours for a Song', hosted by Bert Parks.
You so talented, Mr. Gilbert! You living legend.
@Jeopardy! should do some behind-the-scenes features showing Johnny Gilbert before time runs out and he retires. He's been the voice of Jeopardy since it started, but that 2-second segment showing him announcing with his headset on is the only clip on KZread showing him announcing. John G, agreed! There’s an insightful documentary with Trebek on Amazon Prime “Game Changers” which highlights a bit of the charm of Johnny Gilbert behind the scenes. You should check it out!
Crazy that he's in his 90s here. If I had to guess, I'd say he was only in his early 70s.
Be Blessed, Johnny Gilbert. Being the only original cast member here, you should be proud. Remember how life is precious as we have all seen that your comrade Alex had lost the battle to cancer in the pancreas. Life is short but do show us that whoever you work with for a long time will fulfill your life. I do hope that you will make an easy transition to the new host soon-it is tough to move on, but I am sure that Alex will be proud of you for continuing your job no matter who you will have to welcome as the next host of Jeopardy! Stay well- we love you.
I Love You Johnny Gilbert
Love Johnny Gilbert! Thanks for this.
July 13, 2021… Happy 97th birthday to the legendary Johnny Gilbert!
Johnny is now 94 years young and still sounds as amazing as ever. I think some of his very best work was on "Supermarket Sweep". Johnny alluded that he cannot be there until the "end of the ride". But when Johnny does either step down or is no longer able to announce, I hope the show will still keep HIS voice saying "THIS.....IS.....JEOPARDY!" much like the way "Days of our Lives" has kept MacDonald Carey's opening montage even though he passed away a long time ago, back in 1994.

I know I said this on another social media site, but Johnny Gilbert is, beyond a doubt, one of the best game show announcers in the business. There are just too many wonderful things about him to say here, but he's certainly kind, cheerful, open, and full of integrity, not to mention a Guinness World Record holder for the longest career as a game show announcer for the same show. He and Alex have been with Jeopardy since day one. I don't think there's any show today besides this one that has had the same host and annoumcer at the helm at the same time for 36 years, going on 37. It's quite extraordinary. He is meticulous at his job, and times the introductions perfectly. I enjoy the fact that he enjoys spending time entertaining the audience as well.

Angie2343 We Love Him Since The Late Charlie O'Donnell
That heartwarming
Johnny Gilbert, you've got such a great voice. I've been watching Jeopardy since I was a little boy. I've also remembered that you were announcer on Wheel of Fortune, in addition to Jeopardy. For Wheel of Fortune, when you did Wheel one time, Charlie O'Donnell, longtime announcer, had his sick or illness days from November 27th-December 4th, 1995. Another time, you were guest announcer on April Fools Day 1997. 3rd time you were announcer was from November 1st, 2010-November 15th, 2010 (Following Charlie O'Donnell's passing). I was trying to practice your voice for the filming of Jeopardy from anyone's date of birth (DoB) whenever someone else's birthday is coming up. I made an HD Version of the Columbia TriStar Television logo from the time I was born, then I made an HD Version of the King World logo from September 6th, 1999 to December 22nd, 2006. As of Late 2016 (going on 2017), I was trying to make an HD Version of the King World logo from September 1990 to Summer 1999.
Bet he gets a mouthful reading off James Holzhauer's winnings at the beginning of each show. All this at the age of 94. A rare golden television moment that will be played back decades later!
Love you, Johnny!
Thank you Johnny

RIP Alex Trebeck
Johnny Olson you do so much for Jeopardy you've been doing it for almost 37 years. However, you do it so well even without Alex trebek around now but it's going to be a little different now. But what I like about you Johnny is very simple. You do it so well basically you've been doing this for practically 50 years or maybe even 60. But however it is I think you're going to have a long lived life until you reach 100 years old. And it won't be long until you do. And besides that? I think you'll just be remembered just like Alex trebek was remembered so keep up the good work patrol I mean Mr Gilbert excuse me. I think you'll do pretty well for the next five years. Since you're getting up there with Bob Barker.

Wrong guy. johnny olson passed away almost 38 years ago this year on October 12, 1985. This is announcer johnny Gilbert. However, he outlived everyone of the announcers that we grew up with. People like Don Pardo, Charlie O’donnel, Rod Roddy, gene wood, and of course the immensely popular johnny olson. We don’t need to lose him next like we lost all of the other announcers. hopefully he will live like the late great Bob Barker or perhaps succeed him.
This is Jeopardy!!

Johnny if you're out there, I take my hat off to you! 7 decades in game shows. I remember you on Chain Reaction. I just would've loved to hear you call an ep or two of the Bob Barker Price is Right after Johnny Olson died, but you probably owed it to Merv.

Johnny Gilbert was the announcer of the ABC version of Bill Cullen's "The Price Is Right" in the 1960's.
When did Johnny first meet Alex anyway? And Merv for that matter, too?
We have lost all of the great announcers from years gone by. People like Charlie O’donnel, Johnnie olson, gene wood, Rod Roddy, and Dom Pardo. He is one of the last surviving announcers from the 70s and the 80s.

Well it’s very simple. If you love what you do, then stay with it. I think that is why he is not going to retire yet. All of the game show announcers that we know and love, they are all gone. Even past host. They are dead and gone too. Specially Alex Trebek. and The recently departed last month Bob Barker. we still have Pat Sajak and he is going to retire if I’m correct next year.
