100% agree. That fourth film didn't feel very necessary and the fifth film should've continued from the fourth anyway, if my memory serves me correctly (it's been a long time since I've seen any of the movies) Angelica hates Jack, and has the voodoo doll of him that washed up on the island he deserted her on. I'm sure she could do some wicked stuff. That fifth film should've tied up that loose end at the very least.

Agreed. Every film needs more than just a great lead, and the Pirates movies had lots of great supporting characters and actors but without Depp playing Captain Jack, the movie is at best a direct to TV

They literally couldn't do it. They tried to make one with him as more of a side character (the last one they made in 2017: Dead Men Tell no Tales) and it was absolutely awful. The first 3 were fantastic but once Gore Verbinski left it went downhill very quickly. The fourth one was better than the 5th, but the writing was so bad compared to the first 3, and especially the first 2, that it was super cringe and stale even with Johnny as Jack Sparrow. I still consider PotC to be a trilogy for that reason, because the first 3 were literally magic and the latter 2 were pretty garbage, and if they made one without Johnny it would quite literally not be PotC.

I don't know him personally, but I know he isn't guilty of anything he's been accused of. You never read or hear about Johnny in tabloids, he doesn't have a bad reputation in any way. He has been consistent in the things he says and does. His character tells us who he is. And Disney has shown us who they are.

Good! As much as I love those movies and knowing his character is done for good, I fully support and commend him for his decision.

Now you gave them the idea of doing a christmas movie with some magical diverse beings instead of Santa. 😂 Aside a fun fact there are a lot of cultures that celebrate christmas, but they dont have the american Santa clause or dutch sinter klaas. ;)

Actually, he said he's not just done with Disney, but with *Hollywood* as a whole. He's still acting, but not in America. He's done a couple of French movies, for instance. He spends most of his time in the UK now and I wouldn't be surprised if he moves here permanently, doing his band and only acting in European films from now on.

He's not alone, many are leaving Disney and not going back.

He literally created Captain Jack Sparrow. If Disney replaces JD with any actor, they'll only be recreating what JD had made of Jack Sparrow, or have to base heavily on JD's rendition. No many actors in history can create such a legendary character that can only be identified by him/her. I'm privileged to have seen JD's POC real time.

Exactly....my most memorable and one of the most iconic scene of the whole franchise is the fall from the stairs and he really felt down the stairs and still stayed in character....i loved that scene for some reason and that was all Jhonny depp

This is very sad, nobody could replace Johnny as Captain Jack Sparrow, but i stand by his decision. They did him wrong big time in such a time of struggle

Remakes typically don't use the same actors as the original... at best, they might have wanted Depp to make a cameo, but there's no way they would ever use the same lead actor for the same lead character in a remake over 20 years after the original.

I'm so sad because seeing Johnny as Jack Sparrow again would be amazing. But, I fully support him in this because Disney was so disgusting with what they did to him.

There is no Pirates of The Caribbean without Johnny Depp. Period. And even if he did agree to do it, there is no way a remake of this series would ever be as iconic as the original.

And this is why Johnny Depp is one of the greatest actors of all time. I'm glad he told Disney where to shove it.

So Disney puts extreme violence on, while they disrespected Johnny Depp. Such hypocrites. They don't deserve Johnny, they are two faced big time.

He knows his worth! His dignity and self worth is more that what disney offered which are millions & millions of dollars! That is one real man!

I remember when i was a kid i used to wait so much for marvel releases n i would watch and rewatch them and be so hyped for all the marvels stuff months n months before release ..... These days I don't even know what they doing its annoying n for those i go i go for just hoping that maybe maybe they fixed their shit and i can watch a proper marvel film without Disney fuckin it up somehow
