Jessica Reed i was there too that day! And i always go on that ride whenever I go. However I checked the app to see how long the wait was for that ride and for some reason it said that it was closed for that day. I was so pissed off when I found out that he was there the next day

yeah for me i have to do it each day. Every time i visit the park i always end the day off the pirates. Honestly its so peaceful on the ride when you and the people you are with are the only ones on the ride/boat.

Goremeister100 he did at least received the SAG Award for Outstanding Actor as a Leading Character for Prates of the Caribbean:The Curse of the Black Pearl 2003. He recently received the 2017 People's Choice Award for Favorite Movie Icon back in January. Not Oscars, but not small time awards either. He has the moxy to be Oscar caliber, but perhaps what he said in an interview he doesn't want to win one because he has to do a long speech thanking everyone which he is famously known to be uncomfortable with, and the movie series POTC are not quite Oscar favored for acting, but are for Technical achievements.

Not only that, Jack Sparrow is one of the easier impersonations to pull off for a lot of people. The character is all hair, makeup, and shapeless clothes, with very animated mannerisms and speech patterns that would just take a bit of practice for a man with the right voice. In most cases it would take a pretty big Depp fan to tell an impersonator from the real thing. They probably just thought he was a Disney employee.

I remember him in the movie Platoon (1986) when he was the character "Lerner" who was bilingual and was always translating Vietnamese to the Sgts (Barnes and Elias). That movie won best picture that year and I knew then that he would become a mega star way past his 'tv series young actor days' ;)

They were filming a ride for memories. Even in the videos of him on the ride he looked an animatronic for a bit. So you can't really blame a bunch of 20-40 year olds with their kids to not notice a difference quickly.

That is not strange, there are other actors, and I am sure plenty of people who feel, would feel, the same about seeing themselves on screen. What I find strange is him saying he doesn't watch movies as if it is trite nonsense, way to promote. Think about it as if running into the cook from a restaurant you patron, who then goes on about how he would never eat that crap because it's disgusting.
