Climbing in a tweed jacket is the most British thing ever

You've reminded me of an article i just read about a scuffle that broke out literally on the summit of a mountain, Snowdon (in Wales), about somebody pushing in to a queue, which was also described as profoundly English sort of quarrel, in Tweets shown by the DM. Apparently lockdowns and Welsh government marketing have driven people mad because the queues to climb are absurd now, "like something out of Asda".

Watching this video has given me the confidence to walk up my walls. Thanks 👍
At first I was like, "okay so this gentleman woke up one day and decided he would start climbing, but he should not use hands not to be deemend unelegant" which would make him the weirdest climber in history. Then I did some research and discovered that he was the first in UK to ascend E9 when he was young... So he's not a weirdo, he's just bored and decided to use 10% of his power by doing no hands
Top bloke. Takes me back a fair bit to when I was a climber - met him in Verdon on the third belvedere in 1986. Couldn't believe someone so lacking in stature could have topped out on the route Scumone (no idea on the spelling - 7c if I recall). Only when he started chatting did I twig who it was!
Johny is a legend, my only claim of association is that I walked in on him having a shite at Pete’s eats in Llanberis. I said “oh sorry johny” and he sat there smiled and said “no probs mate” ! Legend!! 😂
"Really quite good" is actually high praise from an Englishman.
This is an accurate representation of how I climb level surfaces when I'm drunk
Never knew I needed to see a British guy climbing in a tweed jacket😂😂💯
What no one knows is this guy can't take 3 steps on flat ground with out falling over.
Holy Mazola! I’ve never seen that technique before. Seriously impressive!
Always was one of the great climbers... still is, it seems! Hats off to you Johnny!
All of the climbers in the back on the other cliff were watching in awe !

There was a conman in the early days of New York City who would bet people he could throw a watermelon onto the roof of a skyscraper. Once they agreed to the bet he'd pull a baseball sized watermelon out of his jacket. Then he'd bet them double or nothing and tell them "you pick the watermelon" so then he'd take the elevator up to one roof and throw it on the roof of the building next door.
