We’re doing instrument families in 1st and 2nd grade, and they’re gonna LOVE dancing to this one! Thank you!

(I actually told them all about you and your shiny shiny tuba!)
I also love how John Williams just always brings in harp or random percussion in what he writes.
This was always my favorite recording of the Williams! I remember when having a copy of it was rare and took a lot of work to acquire. Now everyone can hear it!Thanks so much for sharing it with the world!
That's great! Thanks for posting this. There is also one floating around someplace with Roger Bobo and the L.A. Phil...
wow this is great. a filmy yet unique concerto.
I love John William's concert music! Thank you so much for posting this, I will be studying this very thoroughly! I have been really wanting to see the score to his concerti for so long!
I don't think I imagined the range so high on a tuba. Lovely. Like a heavier euphonium, almost.
Three of music's most powerful forces in the same place - Williams, Slatkin, and Pokorny. All I can think is "of fucking course they could." Vaughan Williams' own tuba concerto has absolutely nothing on this and I'm so grateful to have finally heard the most brilliantly written and performed tuba pieces. Thank you for sharing!

nah, VW tuba concerto may not be as musically interesting for you, but it paved the way for the bass tuba as a solo instrument. it certainly relevant.

wow! where did you obtain the score? His concert music scores(full orchestral scores) are basically non-obtainable anywhere
@FreakieFan

Well you can pretty easily just purchase them… they’re a fortune but I assume that’s where people get them from…

@@FreakieFan you wouldnt say that if you actually looked! When I said unobtainable I really meant cant obtain even if willing to pay. Hal Leonard only sells JW's piano reduction of his concert works. I have no idea where to find full scores

@@KinkyLettuce you'd need to hire the material first, then you'd have access to the score, but you'd have to send it back at end of hire period of course.

best is to check out muic libraries in your area. His scores are too expensive to buy...E.T. is like 700 bucks for example. Or wait another 60 years for them to be free
Which tuba is being used? Sounds like an F to me, but the pedal Bb at 12:35 sounds very thick, almost as if on a very large Bb.

I would assume CC but I could be mistaken

It is usually performed on an F. After talking with the late Ron Bishop, he told me that he used a small CC. I only know of on person psycho enough to try it on a BBb. That petson was me. I used portions of it for an audition. It went about as well as you would think it did. 😂

Gene likes to use the CSO 6/4 York Tuba as much as possible, even on difficult solo rep like this. It wouldn’t shock me if it was the big horn.

This is 100% on F tuba.

Would be nice to be able to see the tuba part. To small
