I love John Williams. A musical genius and such a warm friendly man. We are so privileged to have the Mozart of our times still with us.

I know I really shouldn't be saying this, but I'm going to be so heart broken the day John Williams leaves us.

+Kramer1701 I know!!! I've been a fan of Gustavo for quite a while and I freaked out when I read about that he would be conducting the opening and closing themes for the movie :-)

I just LOVE this man! His was the very first film-music I start to hear in my childhood. God bless you, Johnny!

I can listen to John Williams speak all day. Such an articulate and gentle person.

sgtpepper1138 Well, I don't know about that. Perhaps if you got to know him over an extended period of time then yes. But it's a risk that can happen with any celebrity where you might meet John Williams one day when he's having a bad day, and maybe he talks aggressively to you then, but he obviously doesn't mean it and you just caught him on one of his bad days. But then that memory sticks with you and you might hold Williams with contempt for that one incident, even if you know the reality of the situation. So I don't know. I would LOVE to meet John Williams in person, too. But I don't want to risk having a bad meeting.

+Goblan This interview should have been done by Michael Tilson Thomas or Keith Lockhart, Gustavo is a spectacle, he is a Venezuelan oil purchase, that is a PR product, he really made the interview difficult to watch because John Williams is kind in that he really was interviewing himself helping Gustavo in every way, Gustavo is not knowledgeable and did no preparation for this American treasure. Debbie Borda do the interviews, or your ponzi scheme will be exposed. This was hard to watch.

+martha jane Or maybe he was trying to listen to Williams. John seems to be Gustavo's hero; a modern day Mozart.

to see Gustavo just listen as much as possible, like he knows how fortunate he is to literally be next to a genius of our time- as if you could go back in time to any great baroque , classical or romantic composer, but you don't have to. your 2 feet from a great composer, right now!! and he knows it, and I love that he just takes it all in. both these guys are amazing. I especially love that Gustavo stands and bows with the orchestra- not by himself, ever- because he knows he's not better than them, and that the performance isn't there without them. he's so humble. and the passion! oh man. his hair conducts more than his hands!

Gustavo still struggles with the English language, but what the Hell that's part of his charm. One of the finest conductors to come along in several decades.

I love this interview and the respect that gushes out for each other. Truly a gem of interaction in the musical world

Fascinating. I first became aware of Alfred Newman as the composer of the perfect Cathy's Theme from 1939 Wuthering Heights. Also, that John Williams likes swashbuckler movies! My Dad introduced me to Robin Hood with it's classic Korngold score and also Flynn in Captain Blood. The greatest fencing match ever onscreen would be Zorro's Tyrone Power vs. Basil Rathbone- and that score also was by Alfred Newman. Then The Black Swan...

OMG he is a genius a God.

Williams' writing for Perlman and Schindler's List is some of the most evocative and moving music ever penned.

Cuando Spielberg le mostró la película a Williams, él quedó tan shockeado que dijo que buscara otro compositor. Spielberg le respondió que no podía, ya que todos ya habían fallecido. El tema de violin ejecutada por Perlman es conmovedora, y en mi caso, como nieta y sobrina de asesinados en esa época nefasta de la humanidad, cada vez que la escucho se me caen las lágrimas

Gustavo Dudamel has conducted Williams music a lot. He's the conductor of the LA Philharmonic. He may not have the greatest grasp of English but Williams is a real hero of Dudamel's. You can tell the joy Dudamel has while talking to him.
