John Wayne - Big Jake "..every mother's son of ya."

Ойын-сауық

Remember when the good guys faced down the bad guys in the name of justice and rule of law? I guess westerns and rugged individualism don't promote the Hollywood globalist "progressive" agenda. If Americans boycott crappy new movies maybe Hollywood will get the message. At least we the people will save money!

My father was a foreman on a cattle ranch here in central Montana. He died at the age of 83 in 2005. He looked just like John Wayne. His mannerisms... Everything. Even his voice was similar. But then again I'll bet everyone my age in America sees a little of John Wayne in their father.

He gambled EVERYTHING he owed EVERYTHING he had on that one movie and it eventually started paying off. Every AMERICAN should own it and BUY it for their family. Wish the script had allowed the doggie to live and accompany them home. The garbage they make in Hollywood now is nothing beside the great movies made so many years ago. Today those too vulgar to see are all action and no acting.

In 1976 John Wayne came to town, & the "whole" town turned out for it. People still talk about it. My favorite John Wayne movie's are Big Jake, The Quiet Man & Angel & the Badman ( in black & white ) The best guy he ever knew was Maureen O'hara, they were the best of friends, she even went to Washington DC on his behalf. The quote was "John Wayne American" He was 1 of a kind & their will never be another.

By the time this scene takes place, the kidnapping and murder raid at the McCandles' ranch has taken place and law enforcement is getting ready to follow the perpetrators. The rider in the last seconds is delivering Martha's note.

Yes, the critics will point out the John Wayne wasn't the man he portrayed on screen, but at least he wasn't afraid to take a stand. And that's what his characters were: uncompromising, tough, and unapologetic in taking a stand. Sure miss that generation. Sure do miss the Duke.

Years ago, John Wayne was interviewed by someone who said that movie critics hated John Wayne's acting and his movies. In response, Wayne said something to this effect: "I guess the only people who like my movies is THE PUBLIC." That shut up the interviewer, because the Public knew what they liked. They didn't need critics to tell them.

+18661873 (Opening Scene Gun) Sorry PILGRIM but he is using a very limited run WINCHESTER 14" 1892 44-40 Saddle Ring Carbine that if owned nowadays you must have a letter from the ATF showing ownership papers due to the factory 14" barrel and antique status. These were made before the 16" Law on RIFLES was established by our government. These CARBINES are very RARE and are worth BIG $$$$ to WINCHESTER Collectors !

It was a '92, not a '73. He used that shortened rifle/carbine in nearly all of his westerns including the first one, Stagecoach.

mike85364 ... 94 isn't really comparable to 92. Rifle cartridges vs. pistol cartridges. For speed of repeating, 92 beats 94 by a mile. For range, 94 outshines 92. The vast majority of lever guns in Westerns have been and still are 92s in .44-40 because they fire the 5-in-1 blanks. The Yellowboy 66 and the 73 also handle the Hollywood blanks, but they aren't as robust as the 92, especially if they are going to be dropped or thrown. Of the few lever guns I've owned, my favorite is a Japanese Winchester 1886 in .45-70 Gov't. It has the design made famous by John Browning, styling that harkens back to the turn of the century and the modern steel strength to handle extremely potent hand loads. If I feel like fantasizing about the old West when I take it out to heat up some big brass, I can think about John Kloehr vs. the Daltons.
