John Waters on his debut novel and keeping things weird

John Waters has long pushed the pop-culture envelope, and his debut Novel “Liarmouth” is no different. He joined Sue O’Connell to talk about that, his “don’t say straight” push and his antipathy toward social media.

I love listening to John waters speak. It’s like listening to your friends tough old grandma who has stories that make your life seem boring. One of the best.

You know something, in retrospect the entirety of VCPR from Vice City sounds like he wrote it.

John has been holding down the weirdness forever, hell yeah. It's awesome to see he's still at it.

I think I seen some kids down the street standing around a trampoline and playing loud rock music. You could see it in their eyes they were all hopped up on trampoline. As I drove by the kids were making trampoline gestures at me. I felt so violated.

OK, dear, you mentioned it first so what about it? . "Big Desk" just doesn't cut it as a description. How about an enormous desk, or an expansive beyond any sense of reason or proportion desk? All that's needed here visually is two tin cans and a string stretched between you. A loooooong string. ;-)
