I remember. 51 years old. I remember the Greatness of MTV. People talk about what MTV has become. The thing is it was a product of its time. It could have never continued on just showing videos. It was lightning in a bottle. And then there were all the clones. Friday Night Videos, Night Flight, and others. Trying to explain to someone today who was born in the last 20 or 25 years what MTV was and what it meant to us is impossible. I’m just glad I was around to enjoy it. The 80’s was a great time to be a kid/teenager. It’s like trying to explain Saturday Morning Cartoons or Waiting for New Shows to premiere in the Fall. It was Magic and I miss it so much sometimes it hurts. It was really fun. I watched MTV for hours. Couldn’t wait for a “Premiere Video” or to see my favorites. Good Times.

I saw John Waite in concert last night. I didn't expect too much...but was totally blown away. He sounded great, looked in shape at 71, had great stage presence, was funny, and deeply reflective at times. If you get a chance to see him---you absolutely must! He also did a fantastic version of "Whole Lotta Love"...but this song seems to embody how he is as a person. Very cool!

I wish someone would build a time machine & take me back to the 80s & LEAVE ME THERE FOREVER... 1982...I was 13 yrs old & in 7th grade. I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE GREATEST SONG EVER!!! I can remember watching MTV (when MTV actually played music videos), just hear this song & watch the music video. In the summer of 1982 I saved my money from grass cutting & bought my first Sony Walkman and this cassette, I think I paid around $30.00 for both...I WAS SO HAPPY & PROUD OF MYSELF!!! I remember getting my Walkman & riding my bike all over my neighborhood. GREAT GREAT SONG...EVEN BETTER MEMORIES!!! Much love from Mobile Alabama

My ❤ heart breaks for the 👧 girl in this video. You can see how the pursuit of wealth, fame, and fortune has destroyed her soul and left her empty inside, to the point of being suicidal. How easily and quickly we can lose perspective about what matters most in life. I appreciate the strong moral message in this song and John and Patty knock it out of the park with their vocal performances. An underrated classic and a true hidden 💎 gem! This song should of been a massive hit!

@@donkeyracer6551 I find that odd-there are many other artists who have hits on songs written by other people, Heart for instance, but they are on Spotify as far as I know. Holly Knight wrote the song and did it in her band Spider and IIRC she loves Waite's version. As long as Holly gets paid I don't see the issue, was Waite wanting a percentage too? I just checked another one of her tunes,"Ragdoll" that Aerosmith did and it currently has 67+ million plays on spotify. Seems kind of absurd that spotify and Amazon would penalize us fans like this.

John is a genuine treasure!! The kind of bread they don't make anymore. Fantastic songwriter, singer, musician, arranger, frontman. May it be with The Babys, Bad English or Solo. Very few songwriters/artists make me pay that much attention to the lyrics as John does. There are a lot of lines in a lot of songs that take my breath away... I have a soft spot for "In Dreams": "....Sunshine knocking on my window Couldn't wake me from this dream (we dream) 'Cause baby anywhere the wind blows I will follow you It seems That in my life I still believe in dreams...." 😉
