Sure he shouldn't have said it, BUT he said it in a way to denounce the word itself, saying he wouldn't use it. And then the people in his meeting saying they want to set him up basically so he might say the same thing is concerning. Seems to have just been a ploy in order to get him removed and it worked. He could have refrained from actually saying the word is for one. Like there’s a reason we say “the N word” when addressing it as opposed to actually saying it. This is why Ethan Klein was in hot water over saying it. He understood the word was a hurtful word and just mistakenly understood that if you use it within the right context it’s not hurtful. Obviously that’s not the case, it can be used out of context and what is the point of actually saying the word as oppose to self censorship? Like the only difference is that your considerate and aware that just saying the word can be harmful to other, even without the context. Obviously I don’t believe that someone just saying a word is automatically racist, but like their no reason to use the word with any context, unless it’s from literature or something. I’m not sure how we treat it cause it’s not a word that’s hurtful particularly to my people. If we go in the conversation of talking about Latino and you using the S word then yeah, maybe I can assume that the use in literature for context is alright as long as it’s not malicious.
