​@lostintheblues.986 haha, I keep forgetting about this because of how uneventful it was. This scene was shot in the ballroom of the Hilton Garden Inn in Missoula. Base camp was set up in a field two blocks behind it. We had to be there at 6AM for makeup and wardrobe, then filming started at 8AM. Kevin Costner came out and nailed the speech in one take, then we spent four hours repeating it, then broke for lunch. After lunch we sat around for two or three hours while they set up the balloons and confetti. By then, Costner had forgotten the lines and 300 spent forever crammed like sardines in a can under hot lights with no air conditioning while we did it over and over. Most of the day was sitting around waiting. We were all glad to get it done.

Same as here in Canada, all summer you see tourist commercials of the East coast, in the summer encouraging people to go there, or move there. They never show you what it looks like in the winter!

Filming the types of scenes in the show would be 10x harder and costlier if the film crews had to deal with snow and cold. Especially due to not being able to do as many takes during the shortened daylight and harsh temps. It would be nice if they were willing to splurge and push through it for the sake of realism and variety though.

Amen to that - I've only watched the show on youtube in clips, and Even I'M tired of Jamie's schtick, today he's loyal, but then a girl comes along and dangles some kind of temptation in front of him, Beth treats him like crap, he goes off with teh girl, then gets cold feet, Beth finds out and threatens him, and he folds. Just for crying out loud, jsut shoot Rip and Beth already!

I know this would be completely out of character for John but I could easily see this series ending with him and Senator Perry running together on one ticket for Vice President and President of the United States. Perry as President because she can handle the politics and John as VP who can possible reinvent his office like Cheney did and do enough good to keep his ranch afloat.

It just pisses me off how they wrote Jamie to clearly be a useful asset to the family and the ranch, using his lawyer and political wits to protect it and them. However, he's forced into being a villain because John and Beth verbally and physically abuse him. I mean, how much more stupid can those two characters be? What more did they expect Jamie to be when they treated him like trash? The writing in this show is so aggravating. It could be great, but chooses to settle for mediocracy and incoherence.

À mon avis personnelle, si tu as écouté 1883 et 1923, la famille Dutton à comme valeur de base : croire en un objectif commun et ne pas avoir peur. Le personnage de Jamie est un faible, hésitant et instable. Tout le monde connait le dicton que la chaine a la force de son maillon le plus faible ... et comment veux tu que le personnage de Beth lui fasse encore confiance ou le considere, il lui a couté déjà tres cher de le faire ...je ne considère pas que c'est incohérent comme scénario.

@@pizzafrenzyman who said there will be 7 more seasons? as far as we all know they've only signed on for season 5 and 6. educated guess is it has maybe 3 more seasons left in it unless they decide to go all walking dead and ruin the franchise by staying on too long. Sheridan said previously the show can't go on forever. I understand people think this show is like a modern Dallas, but if that's the case, in order to avoid the same fate, they need to end it sooner than later. we already see traces of Beth distrusting her dad and her dad making really poor decisions regarding the land. in 1883 the Indian guy said in 7 generations my people will rise up and take back the land. that looks imminent. i mean how believable is it going to be if John remains governor for 4 more years when he survives 1000 more gun battles?

Seasons 1-3 were great tv all round... season 4 wandered off into soap opera territory ... season 5 is terrible so far, plodding predictable writing.

With Montana legalizing weed many poor and not so have seen the rents go up and even if their futures mean possible homelessness at least they can watch this show and know most don't give a shit. Because greed and TV are more important to us.
