The first time I heard this song I was a teenager at Catholic school. I went on to be baptised Pentecostal in 1997 but when I moved to France in 2007 the Holy Eucharist brought me back to the Catholic Church. My baptism and first communion is set for this Glorious Saturday evening 🕯 April 16, 2022 ✝️

As a young man and typical rock & roll teen in the 70’s, seeing many of the famous rock bands we all know of, or most of us, it is what I thought would be with me to the grave. God had other ideas. I was then and am still a musician. I was deep in that world. After high school, needing to escape my then disjointed life, joined the Marine Corps. It was JMT’s music which I discovered as a new Christian, from two fellow Marines that witnessed to me. I gave them a chore to be sure (yes, we can be Marines/warriors, and kill in battle, and then go to church. Yes. Sounds odd, but read the Bible. Those scenarios happened often). At that time, I did not understand how I made a sudden decision one Sunday to go to church with these fellow Marines, rather than the usual partying I did on liberty. But I did. And I DO know now. Yes. To give evidence for that event in my life, the first message I ever heard from the pastor, that first day at a Christian church ever, with no idea what to expect, was a two part series on what? ROCK & ROLL!! Yes. Called...”The Punk called Rock”. He was preaching on the influence of that world, and it’s affects on society, with biblical application that was relevant. It was an incredible experience. A well done expose’ on the truth of the crazy music scene, which is no less crazy today. But what are the chances? Yea. God moved on my heart those two Sundays in a way that can only be called miraculous. Believe me, the chances were not favorable for this to have been a life changer. But the blinders were removed from my hearts eyes that day. Our God is truly remarkable....and righteously clever. Lol. :-) God knew exactly what He was doing. And it was my 19th birthday that Sunday. The second part of that message the following Sunday? I accepted Christ. It was a profound and totally unexpected turn. Even my Marine buddies who finally got me there were shocked. But really should not have been. Coincidence? Lol. No chance. It was ordained. The journey continues to this day. This man, John Michael Talbot, changed my life. Particularly in the music department. I went from hard rock committed, to JMT style music, and to this day, 40+ years later, I have played worship and been completely sold out to our Lord Jesus, but would never kid anyone that I have crawled many times rather than walked. Many struggles to be sure. Many self induced. Yes. There is a WHOLE lot more to this story, but I am forever grateful for JMT’s ministry and commitment to God. Catholic? Protestant? Matters not. Less the hierarchy of churches, which are a problem today for sure (another discussion for another day) the body of Christ is what matters. We are all brothers and sisters in the Lord. I don’t mean Ecumenical “All”. No. There is only one God. One faith. All roads do NOT lead to God. Only one. Through Christ alone. Don’t let anyone ever tell you different. And...within our faith, God looks on the HEART of each man. Not which organization, church, mega church, etc., he or she belongs to. My life, which was once a warrior for my beloved country the United States of America, with a number of decades in that service, has become now a warriors mission for the Lord. I was once a selfish seeker of self fulfillment, and then a warrior for my country, which taught me self sacrifice over time, and now...a warrior for Christ. Albeit, one that needs Gods mercy and Grace daily. It has taken me decades to understand that I must decrease, that He may increase. It is a battle never ending. But one that must be fought. Let us all take up our cross and follow where he leads. JMT’s music ought to be main stream radio play, as it is some of the most pure music and worship ever to be recorded and aired. Today’s Christian pop does not even come close. It’s fine for entertainment and some value in getting the gospel out there. Better than these musicians going secular, but JMT’s music cuts to the soul in a deep and profound way. It’s from the heart...not a Producer. I don’t know how anyone filled with the spirit of God could not be affected by this glorious ministry of music that JMT has put out there for decades, and still does. It is on a whole different level. “The Lord’s Supper”. JMT’s Magnificent early album that put him on the charts. Gods charts! I believe it is his greatest album of music. Start there. I did. Amen. (I only meant to comment shortly on JMT’s music. Why I wrote so much? Hmmm. God bless)

The Bread of Life is his forgiveness, hard won & costing him his earthly body, but a finished work. The door to eternal life is open so come. He desires to fill you with His Holy Spirit so you may become a new creation. New within as His Spirit works within you to change your thoughts, habits and desires, and will give you peace in His completed forgiveness. Only the Spirit can accomplish these good works. It is finished, you ARE forgiven. Believe & receive Eternal Life within.

As a Methodist minister I am always moved by the Sacrement of Communion and how, by sharing this simple meal, we commune soul to soul. Something new is created beyond my understanding when the grace of God is acknowledged and accepted. As a practicing Quaker for years I understand the peace of silence and the sacramental peace of Holy Communion.

I agree with you and to add more light on the subject: The Council of Ephesus decreed in 431 that Mary is Theotokos because her son Jesus is one person who is both God and man, divine and human. Theotokos means God-bearer or the one who gives birth to God. As Such she deserves special affection in all churches.

Another comment: The actors in this video---and perhaps in oter videos--are fantastic. The setting seems to be from the 70s or 80s because of the hairstyles. I just can't get enough of this video. I've already commented on the interdenominational aspect. Mar. 21, 2024. Nore also the music which starts in one, then two, then finally three-part harmon. John, I listened to your music at sea in the Navy in the early 80s. Endless hours steeped in it (also Keith Green and other young musical leaders of worship in those times). Today I'm troubadouring a bit myself, and your influence is inescapable (I mean I literally can't escape it ;-) Definitely not Roman Catholic, but absolutely tapping Catholic musical and devotional assets -- and so thankful for the bounty. There are lines that separate, but as someone once said, we're closer to each other in our separate traditions -- not at the periphery where we might consider dispensing with our distinctives; rather, we're closest to each other in our separate traditions when we are closest to the center of our respective traditions -- because Christ is center for each. We don't need to strive for unity. He's given it to us. We just need to live that out in his name -- whether we're "separated brethren" or, well . . . you guys. ;-)

@chine62 The mass without Jesus is of course empty, but in prayerful supplication, it can be the ultimate expression of faith. Sharing the body & blood of our Lord and Savior is transforming in the right Spirit. I feel both spiritually and physically renewed when I leave the altar. I am Episcopalian, not Catholic & I come from an evangelical background. Unfortunately, I feel that many of my evangelical brethren have lost the true meaning of the Lords Supper - the intimacy with Christ himself

I think Saint John Michael Talbot has found a way to function in the Spirit in Catholicism but the holy Prophets and Jesus with his disciples worked outside of the established religion more magnificiently than anyone within it. So there is the possibility of even greater spiritual songs from John Michael Talbot and those dearly beloved souls with him.

This really isn't a forum for criticizing. I can say one thing, I believe that the signs of a "True Church", It must be founded by Christ, Holy, Apostolic (power handed from Jesus Christ and given to the Apostles and handed down thru centuries), Catholic (Which means universal.) As far as I can see only Roman Catholics, and Orthodox Christians meet that bill.

That's why your church is known as ROMAN Catholic...I will stick with my protestantism, especially in light of the apostolic witness of Borgia and de Rovere, inter alia.

Beautiful tribute to the Most Holy Body of God. Is this some Eastern Catholic mass?

Beautiful! Thanks for posting this! I've always enjoyed John Michael Talbot's singing--he has such an excellent voice. And this helps renew my love for the Eucharist.

The true presents of Christ is in The Holy Spirit. Even Jesus said that. Read John 14 and on for a while. Hopefully the picture will shine through.

I just converted to Catholicism... Do you think when Jesus said that "when you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim my death...." He meant only during Passover? This is when He instituted the Eucharist. Or does he mean anytime you drink wine and eat bread? The institution of the Eucharist is obvious... but how often is appropriate?

@oneofseven100 The Catholic mass is a suspicious ceremony that was never practised by the disciples; the very ones that carried on from where Jesus stopped.

rebelsofireland I didn't realize there were private Roman Catholic sites!! Believe in any ecclesiology you like. Just don't confuse it with exclusive universal truth.
