John Mellencamp "Homeward Bound" Documentary and Concert

Ойын-сауық

Prior to playing the Crump Theater in Columbus, Indiana in September 2008, a venue he first played as a fledgling artist in October 1976, John sat down for an in-depth interview about his career that comprises an insightful 60-minute documentary. Members of John's band and family add their insights to the piece, which is followed by segments of John's 2008 performance at the intimate Crump Theater.

I've seen John Mellencamp for the first time in concert in the 70s and then I think I saw him again in the 80s and I might have went to another concert in the 90s but every time they played their asses off and it sounded so good like the album. all three concerts were badass if you ever get a chance to see this guy he's getting old but he can Still Rock and they do a great show. I remember them doing the long encores as well which no one complained about.

I remember the first time I heard John sing, it was on that show called Solid Gold and it was the song Ain't Even Done With The Night.

It's a funny thing I've seen him in concert three times back in the seventies eighties and nineties how I missed, I ain't even done with the night it's a very unique and awesome tune. but maybe he didn't do it the times that I saw him. I only remember hearing that song like 5 years ago and I was like Wow how the f did I miss this. So the great thing is the songs new to me even though I've been a fan of the guy forever since day one he's probably got a couple more songs that I've never heard that I would love.

Liked the man since I can think of. John's music always reminds me of the premise: "Keep it simple". As simple as many of his songs may be, there is always a certain power in that. His lyrics have content, but they're also made for singing along. Perfect as can be...

At 32:36 is John's cousin. Named Bobby Clark. He wrote "grandview" song that John recorded. Bob is a joy to play music with.

I've known Bob and his family for over 20 years. I seen Bob at our local grocery store last summer. I accidentally grabbed his bag of tomatoes when I went to leave. He came running out hollering at me ! Lol. I actually lived in Grandview in a trailer a few years back.

How different are these band mates of this John, to those weaklings from CCR with John Fogerty. These guys could see, recognise and respect their lead singers strengths and talents, supported him, and stayed with him for years. Whereas John Fogerty's bandmates were irritated, thought his passion and perfectionism was uncool. They were pathetic and ended up making John's life hell. These guys were a big encouragement for JF's comeback. Love them for it. Interesting that the drummer on this doco ended up doing a lot of work with John Fogarty. How refreshing that must have been for him.
