Two worlds best storytellers and musicians together, im gratefull
My life has been better for John Mellencamp sharing his art with us. I'm forever thankful.
John, you were basically the father figure I needed. You've been there all my life and taught me to write songs. And that it's possible for someone from our neck of the woods to make a living doing what we love. Among many other lessons. Been listening since early 80's. Thank you! I'm still listening and always will be

Hello, fellow Hoosier here. Are we the same person? Because I feel like we are same person. All silliness aside, I feel the same way about John being a father figure. His songs were those conversations a son would have with their father in regards to way of thinking. His music taught me about race, homelessness, girls and relationships and how to just be yourself regardless of how others think all while caring about fellow human beings.

@@jonathancunningham4159 Great way to put it. I could've met John and Meg one day at the restaurant my wife was managing and she told me to come in and say hi. I was afraid of bothering a guy just trying to have lunch so I didn't go. I still regret that. Although she did represent me very well when she spoke to them. Nice to see another Hoosier appreciate his music! Been following his career for 40 yrs now!

The best word I can think of to describe John Mellencamp's music is believable. When he tells his story I believe him.
I’m a 65 year old musician; not much captures my attention anymore but this does…like my favorite records from the past, I am compelled to listen to this; it makes me think & feel
John is as authentic as the dirt that we walk upon and his music has always spoken to my soul. I’ve enjoyed having his music help to paint my life and love how he observes life from many angles. A true artist ❤️🎸👍

He has matured in his music and himself. I just watched his interview on one of the early morning shows. His to live by quote these days, "This is a problem.." But he says in way, almost w/a smile that says ..but it's okay, I will figure it out..as a wonderful new challenge.."💛
A masterpiece.! Et cet accordéon 🙄Et merci John pour toutes ces années partagées.. Dédicace d'un petit frenchie de 50 balais qui t'écoutes depuis 40.😎
Every day , as I will tonight, I start my work with " mood altering- focus & purpose music with a cup of Cuban roast coffee". The playlist starts with " check it out" , " ain't even done..", "cherry bomb" , " MINUTES TO MEMORIES", " pink houses", " between a laugh & a tear", " small town" ," scarecrow" "KEY WEST INTERMEZZO"... That's when it switches over to your equally as talented buddy Bruce Springsteen..While there's a few Kid Rock classics sandwiched in between, the main point to address is the authentic narrative each of you artists capsulated. The foundation of an individual, the powerful energies within , the intermingling and interactions a man may witness or even experience a similar facsimile. Well, thanks to all 3 of you. They sold the last lot of our families farm, God knows why I'm alive, and still , I wait for " Better Days" after my " lonesome day". Don't get me wrong, music is of the author's reality and imagination. But , the fabric woven & created blankets, so reach into others life experience. While some is forgotten, unspoken of, untold to, or even acknowledged. It is good to take time to marinate in the elements that life has provided. For whatever it worth. Thank you again.

You're missing some Seger and Knopfler in there. ;) ........but your listing many songs off the Scarecrow album (an awesome bit of songwriting right there, all of it) ....tells me you appreciate authentic writers that we can all relate to........and that's what it's all about. Cheers ~
The history of America is written in song........and John is a huge part of that now. They underestimated him..........but he never cared. as Johnny Cash once said. He is a legend.
Truth will set you free and leave you in a room by yourself....Thank you for being real in a world that isn't...You just keep gettin better and better . Thank you .
This reminds me of a Tom Waits song. Love it. Wish John and Bruce would tour together. THAT would be awesome!!

I’ve spent my whole life listens to John . I was in college when I first heard “ Hurts so good “ I have everything he’s recorded , a true singer song writer! . His music has helped me through some of the darkest places of my life ! The turmoil in his soul I can relate to . Thank you fir keeping it real John
John has a very special place in the songbook of my life, in my heart. Such great memories with your music since the early 80's. Love you always, my "Indiana Brother" Thank you,, for all the years your music, your soul has been next to mine. Always. Blue 💙
He has matured in his music and himself. I just watched his interview on one of the early morning shows. His to live by quote these days, if something needs figuring out.. This is to me a haunting poem that speaks deeply to me
I like how John's music tells a story. The music brings the out the emotion you are supposed to feel as the lyrics guide you. That's when know you're dealing with a singer/songwriter and only a few can actually claim that title even though practically everyone claims it these days.
That is a wonderful Song ...he goes in my Heart...❤ Thanks John....
What songs of John's give you goose bumps? This one did for me.
Coug's and the Boss. Thank you Rock and Roll Gods.
Thanks as always John, hopefully Freedom Convoy 2022 changes the rain into sun....
Sounds like He's been listening to some old Tom Waits. Perhaps a sprinkle of Johnny Cash last recordings. Works to perfection! Wiser and older our perceptions change and deepen...
Listen to John for what over 50 years this has to be one of my
Musicly a beautiful painting. 🌈
In this song, John sounds like a cross between Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen.

Thank you brother! Your music reaches so many. I've been blessed to have your music on my journey since 82'. Even more now, as this compilation and 'Strickly a One-Eyed Jack',, resonates with me beyond words that I can express. The reflection of life and not just on the last 2 years. As we age, we are drawn to reflect more. Mine has been one of deaju unfolding as I now truly except mindfulness and allow myself to be in those moments of unpleasantness. Your work speaks volume to me, as as I journey through this process, but more than that, it speaks louder to those that are younger. As always you are raw, allowing a gentle connection to anyone who is truly open. Peace and love Brother!
Christ bless You Johnny Mellencamp!

....true, but I always felt that John was an old soul........going back to his earlier albums shows someone of deep understanding, even then. Listen closely to the words of Scarecrow... released back in '85.... lots of clear-eyed worldly wisdom running all through it. And with every album, more so, if one listens carefully.

Hi John Mellencamp
Damn, John ; you're singing a song that many of us can fall-in-step with--- as far as the troubles of life go and not getting purchase to climb; , and yet, watching you over the years --from "way over here in the Great White North", listening to the words you're moved to write? In one interview you expressed that you were merely a vessel for inspiration to move you, and yet, there's a lot of your own soul in it. Your song Wasted Days, --the timing of it, along with this song? I pray you're okay, at peace, and that the troubled man you wrote about years ago will find divine serenity to fill that emptiness you're singing about; peace and blessings.... ~~~~ And for anyone out there who wishes to lambaste me for commenting on what I'm picking up on; go pound salt, and peace be with you. ;)

He is very talented. I too hope he finds what is needed to fill the inner void. As the writer of Ecclesiates stated, there is nothing new under the sun, and Solomon speaks of climbing the highest heights in life and finding none of them fills that void.

I've read six different reviews from around the world, and haven't run across any that depict this album as negative. In fact, Rolling Stone did an excellent piece on the album; ....not that John cares anyway, from what I gather.
I've been reliving the whole 'John' for a few days after hearing a brief NPR interview, to include interviews in which a woman's brain was considered spaghetti.....great laugh, and 110% percent agree.......Pretty sure you'll never read this, but maybe someone will convey........How would an average Joe of the correct era hang out for a day and stand 9hrs painting next to you? It's two days travel one way, but I think the ride would be beyond worth it! Hit me if you ever read this.
Life full of rain and the forecast is severe......Peace. Out.
Great!

Will john ever put another rock album out again. Love to hear a song again with drums and a hot lead guitar. Come on john can we go back to rockin again just 1 more time, put the violin & strings in the closet, drums, lead guitar, & bass turned up & rockin come on just 1 more time, the worlds been thru hell the last few years give us something to roll down our windows for again & something to feel good about show us rocknroll isn't completely dead, i never thought i would see rocknroll die but its almost impossible to find it these days so sad

Who are you to judge? Remember the words “judge not lest ye be judged”. There’s always forgiveness available even in the dying hour. Your words aren’t doing any good.
Love you John Mellencamp, but you should leave the raspy gravelly voice to Tom Waits. Just be yourself. You haven't drank enough bourbon to sound like Tom.

...that IS his voice... which has gotten raspier over the years due to his excessive smoking....that's why he keeps smoking. Oh, and I highly doubt John reallhy gives a rat's arse what *you* have to say about his life choices, so, do get over yourself already. LOL
Poor John, I used to be a big fan, but this record, sucks, sounds too much like Leonard Cohen...ugh.
