He's my long-time favorite musician, but every few months I discover another new (old) favorite John Mayer song that strikes a chord with me. Today it's War of My Life. Brilliant artist.

Yup! I know of this song for a long time but I never gave it a chance for some reason. Now I'm loving it

I love how he threw in a little 'Bittersweet' at the end of heartbreak warfare :D

So raw. Just him and a guitar. That was a beautiful rendition of heartbreak warfare!

I get tt. He's willing to confront the discomfort of any demons that come up rather than sittng in the complacent, half-dead kind of numbing pain that takes forever (if ever) to heal. He's talking about fighting for his LIFE and not allowing himself to slowly die. I'm probably head tripping here...but I am so intrigued by WOML. It takes courage to write such a very personal, yet universal, song. Reminds me of Kenny Loggins "This Is it" except a generation later.

the chord for that bridge section is Fmaj7, Cmaj7, Gmaj7 (he only plays the 1,3,and 7 notes of the chords)

Tbh I went into 10th grade having it good but during october it came to a fall and then it came back to good at March. The words in the song describe what I felt. Such a criminally underatted song from an underrated album.

Nobody can touch him. He is so incredibly talented. It's sick.

OMG! His tone for Heartbreak Warfare in this video is absolutely fantastic.

it's amazing how much better that whole album is live than studio. I think the producers kind of blew it tbh because every song is beautiful

WOW this version of Heartbreak Warfare is absolutely gorgeous.

he isn't trying any bluesy stuff on this album. he is going for a more pop genre. man is a genius either way.

WOW to Heartbreak Warfare. John is a master of starting low and then taking the song to a higher level near the finish.

His passion for music is impeccable.

I was checking this out and digging the "Edge" kinda sound he's getting from that Dusenburg so I checked their site to look at gtrs & it has a link to this post.

He’s got an unbelievable right handed touch. I’ve noticed he puts a lot of time in his rhythm techniques.

Saw John in Columbus...My 3rd time seeing him. He is like fine wine. He just keeps getting better and better...

This Heartbreak Warfare it so much more beautiful than the album version. I think THIS is how he wanted it to be perceived. Not as the poppy, radio ready song that it became.

What a songwriter. I love where John is as an artist now, and I'm so happy to have been along for the eight year ride. He seems really comfortable with where he's at. Even though he says he has less confidence now, he exudes more than I've ever seen him exude. Or maybe I'm confusing confidence with sexy. LOL I

that song has actually already been on and off the radio...it was definitely released in the US.

I think the album comes out in September, because he released all of his albums then. And to pick a date, I'd say September 9th.

Coming through in 2022 to say how remarkably John’s ‘live’ work rivals the recorded!’ Both are beautiful, but my preference is always the live. He adds so much more that you won’t get in a recording. That’s what A Creative Genius, A Master, The Man and THE KING does for you ❣️💡🌟💎👑

If he had this same guitar sound, and the same drum beat as on the album version put togther, it would of been an AMAZING song

Nothing out of the ordinary from the tone here. Typical John Mayer clean tone through his two rock. He's got the best tone right now no doubt. For all you guitar players like me, i'm sure you've spend ages trying to nail this tone!!

No, not at all, because that's what makes John Mayer so great. Most of these songs that he plays before the album releases will sound different on the album and have different lyrics.
