Honestly, i think I've listened to this video more than any other one i can think of in my entire life. the musicianship.. the pocket.. It's rare. And the ability to just come out in front of what looks to be about 40 thousand people and lay it down raw like that. John needs to start working more with Pino & SJ. Hell of a trio. doesn't get better than this.

Coming from Bills' live version, this is an abomination. Mayer is playing scared and as yet to play a decent lick halfway threw the jam. I bet Mayer cringes at this verison, hes gotten a lot better. His phrases and timing are horrible from a guitarist perspective. Mayer wouldn't be considered a good guitarist if he couldn't sing. If he couldn't sing no one would know who was. I'm glad people can enjoy it either way.

What exactly is killer about it? I am genuinely curious. I mean, it is not very versatile or hard to play, persist out of basic blues licks and is quite short. Nothing I listed makes it bad in any way, but I don't hear the genius so many claim to see in JM. He has great tone and very good dynamic playing, but nothing exceptional.
