It seems slightly odd that there's a Super, Super Deluxe version of one of Lennon's less celebrated albums. I also find it slightly sad, that upto now, the Lennon camp have been great in making the best possible version of these releases affordable, but as with All Things Must Pass, and Flaming Pie, I just can't justify spending that kind of money

This is my favourite Lennon solo album. I know John dismissed it as "competent songwriting" or whatever, but since when is that a bad thing? I think he meant that it was commercial music without any real edge or meaning, but you could say the same thing about Double Fantasy, and that's not a bad album, either! Anyway, this box set is worth it for the sheer enjoyment of hearing the Ultimate Mix of "Aisumasen (I'm Sorry)" which I think is the greatest ballad John ever wrote. Not to mention that it features what is arguably one of the top 10 guitar solos of all time. Yes, I said it. Of ALL time.

Later, John pretty much dismissed a lot of his past work, especially work that didn't involve Yoko, and they were separated when he recorded this (not necessarily when he wrote a lot of the songs). John was all about his latest project when talking to the press. But I think Mind Games is great. And Sean Lennon has said it's his favorite of his dad's albums.

If he had stripped out the dross on this album and walls and bridges ,he would have a good album. I think the glory days were over. When you think of a hard days night which some consider almost a Lennon solo album ( until McCartney dominated the songwriting later) to this album- what a comedown.

Great news. Any John Lennon recording I haven't heard yet is mana from the skies to me. The 6-disc/ blu-ray box is an automatic purchase (I'm a citizen of Nutopia by the way).

Can't wait for the Super Deluxe set. The big box is certainly out of my league but good luck to anybody who can get one, I would if I had that kind of money, same with the George Harrison uber Deluxe box.

Just one small thing I'm going to ask you to do is to support your local independent record shops, Maybe just mention various shops you like from time to time as you have a lot of followers, and a lot of influence on us fans of the Beatles and solo Beatles etc, I'm sure the shops would be pleased and grateful, My local record shop has just sent me a message asking if I want a copy, I understand amazon is often a bit cheaper and convenient etc, but if we don't use our shops they will go...cheers Pete

I just got the LENNON boxset yesterday. The first time I’ve had any Lennon solo albums. I still need to pickup the ultimate editions of Imagine and Plastic Ono Band, but of course, I’m gonna get the ultimate edition, or whatever it’s called now when it comes out!

Hi mate. The Lennon Estate goes the same way the Harrison estate went with a very nice Super Deluze Box set. But that's not for my pocket. I' think I'll go for the Deluxe box and the 2LP set, I am in doubt buying the 6CD set because I do not and did not play all the mixes on previous boxes. Maybe I'll go for the 2CD and 2LP Set. I think that I'm going to have to restrict myself to the 2xCD version. I'm 9intrigued by the 6xCD version, but I'm not really sure that I'll listen to the extras enough to warrant it. In due course I'm expecting and hoping for Walls and Bridges.

Hello Andrew, thanks for this great information!. Really interesting, I agree so far the "imagine" box set is one of the best Beatles related boxes released so far. I think "I am the greatest" will be included on one of the blue ray discs. On the Plastic Ono Box the blue ray disc i.e included the Yoko Ono record, that was not on the CDs. So more songs on the Blue Ray versions.

My OCD though Andrew already know that the cube boxset is not going to look aesthetically the same as imagine, gimme some truth and plastic ono boxsets! Already pre ordered 6 cd/ 2 x bluray set. Beautifully put together sets though. And i genuinely find it fascinating the evolution of songs, and how they are constructed. Im sure the lennon camp will send you some goodies Andrew for review! I did listen to bbc 6 broadcast as i sometimes listen to Craig Charles anyway!

Picked up the Imagine box set today off ebay for 53.00, in immaculate condition.

I'll be getting the 6cd set assuming it stays at 130. Bizarre having hidden tracks on such a set, can't see the point unless they ran out of time to do the booklets properly or wanted ability to add tracks up to the last minute!

The sound on the promos released today is fantastic. But will this save what has always been considered an uneven Lennon album? I’ll be keen to find out.

Hi Andrew , I have ordered mind games the ultimate collection ) Deluxe box set 6 cd , The ultimate mixes 2 Lp vinyl , the ultimate mixes ) 2CD. Roll on July 12th , pity the massive. Box set is so expensive , I would have got that , but not at that price . I would have liked if the Lennon estate also released the 9 LP separately as well as in the massive box set . So it gave us vinyl collectors a choice to buy either the 6 cd edition or the vinyl .

Curious if they will rerelease “Image” Super Deluxe Boxset with the release Mind Games. Interested in Mind Games but not a Day 1 purchase. Might wait a year of so when price drops.

Andrew the RSD was a great taster. The sound mix of Aisumasen was extraordinary! I am unsure whether to get the vinyl or the cd box set ? Going to have to weigh that up !

Love Mind Games. Have the original 1973 vinyl the 2010 CD and the 2003 remixed CD. Can't afford tis new box. Will go for the 2 CD set.

really wish they would have broken out the COMPLETE audio on vinyl instead of just a 2 disc. If they would, I'd get that instead of the CD set. That said, mostly happy with how they do these.

Hi Andrew, I own the Lennon signature box set as well as others, any opinion on the mastering of the signature set compared to other releases?

I’ve not seen you mention that The McCartney Legacy Book 2 is out in December. Also, you’d have to be crazy to buy that boxset. Ridiculous price. You got yours on preorder? 😉

Regarding the huge box, I’m not against it - all the music is available on much cheaper versions. I hope those who want it can get it and enjoy it, but I hope it doesn’t sell well enough to encourage similar treatments of the other albums. It might become too much for diehards who have to have everything and are stretched getting this. Looking forward to the 6 cd set, the others so far have been great.

I'm fairly pleased with the options here, except it's missing the one configuration that's always a must-buy for me -- a half-speed master. I may just buy the 6-CD box this time around.

I'll see what I can find out about this. I know that when Plastic Ono Band came out in 2021 it was a half speed master but for some reason wasn't advertised as such (You'd think that would be a selling point worth shouting about!)

I agree. The track listing is disappointing. I’m more interested in B sides and unreleased tracks. I’m not interested in rough mixes etc. However, the remixing on these reissues has been superb so I’ll either purchase the one or two disc sets.

they still should update every album from the Beatles solo til the year around 2000. Because the sound quality just has improved. You don’t have to buy it but at least on screaming it should be updated.

When is the hologram edition coming out?

I often find that changes nearer to the release date, but it is something of a gamble if you want it on release date!

I'll consider the 2CD version. Everything else seems too expensive to me

Totally passing on this one, I got the ultimate mixes gimmie some truth box, imagine box and plastic Ono band but for some reason and don't get me wrong I like Mind Games (which I already have) but not enough to buy this reissue

The Lennon and Harrison estates seem to be really trying hard to outdo each other with these limited super deluxe boxsets. The remix of ' Living in the material world' will probably make an appearance later in the year as well and I'm sure there's going to be a limited edition boxset for this as well. One thing I do find disappointing is forking out a large sum of cash to purchase the ATMP Uber box after seeing that it was supposedly limited to 1500 editions worldwide and now it's available again on the official website. The 1100 editions of mind games will fly out the door and they'll make more to suit the market.

Does anybody know if Rock N Roll People will be one of the bonus tracks? So far I don't see it and I am disappointed if its not in there. This song was recorded during the Mind Games sessions.

Trouble with that big cube is it won’t fit on your shelf and would look odd nest to the other sets ..so lv decided not to buy one …. Well that’s my excuse…😂😂😂

Not a fan of hidden tracks in this day in age.. For the price, I want to know what’s on it.

I'll probably be getting the 6 cd box, as ive also got the Imagine + POB sets already. But theres no way that super deluxe box is worth £1000+. Wondering if a big hardback book about Mind Games will be released soon after this just like Imagine and POB did.

I find it strange that they would make such a big expensive set for what is one of John's less good albums. I wouldn't say worst as the Unfinished Music albums are his only releases I would call bad. I will probably get the 2LP and 6CD, just because there are some good tracks and I like these sets, but it's certainly not an album worthy of a £1350 set. They would have been better off making such an expensive set for either Imagine or his best album by a country mile, Plastic Ono Band.

£1300 for the big box. Are they having a 🦒 ridiculous.

The Uber box set is $350.00 more than the All Things Must Pass Uber set. Granted, this set looks beautiful, but jeepers…..$1,350.00!!! I think I’ll just have to settle for the 6CD/BluRay set.

The cover art says everything you need to know about John's music going into the crapper. A diminutive emasculated almost unrecognizable tiny John standing in a field where the mountainous Yoko Ono over-powers everything he can see.

I love the Beatles as much as anyone, but these repackaging of old albums, adding a few different songs is starting to seem like a cash grab from the record companies capitalizing on the Beatles legacy!

Price on Amazon Canada just dropped from $312 to $248. Feel bad for those that paid 312.

Johns Mind Games wasn't a bad album but it wasn't great either. I liked the rockers on it but too much of was filler material.
