As a New Yorker, this feels really special and I teared up when Crazy Legs talked about the Olympics and how far breaking has come. It's been such a treat to see these skits hand-picked for the guest hosts. I loved hearing about this history and wouldn't ordinarily expect to see this on TDS. The food looked so delicious and felt familiar. I wish both the dancing and the conversation had gone on longer. It felt bittersweet due to the length but also so valuable.

When I heard a couple years ago that they were adding "Break Dancing" to the IOC, I thought it was due given how it's a spinoff of floor gymnastics. I know people don't like to think about that relationship between the 2 because of classicism but it's true. The skills needed just to do a fraction of the moves breakers do with their bodies is on par with gymnastics.

Before you get into anything related to the history of break dancing we must accurately state that break dancing was created by Foundational Black Americans and Puerto Ricans were the first students that learned this style of dance from us. All of the dance moves that went into breaking predate any Puerto Rican presence in America and can be found in America amongst Foundational Black Americans as far back as the 1920’s. We have to learn to respect Foundational Black American culture because we don’t need other non white groups in America behaving like colonizers.

I knew Crazy Legs’ cousin back in PR. We used to make fun of him for his thick Newyorican accent but the kid could also breakdance like a madman.

Maybe not Daily Show (that should go to Hassan or Kal) but John Leguizamo could definitely merit a show like this that dives into Hispanic culture, NYC culture or both. I'd watch that.
