Two years after taking office as Hong Kong's chief executive, John Lee has shifted his focus from enforcing national security to improving the lives of residents and rebuilding the city's economy. But he faces formidable challenges, stemming from geopolitical tensions between China and the West with Hong Kong caught in the middle. Lee discusses all this and more with the Post's managing editor of content, Yonden Lhatoo, in this episode of Talking Post.

I disagree the narrative that Mr. John Lee has no control over the geopolitical factors. He does. Mr. Lee spent the last 2 years supporting "one country", the next 3 years should be demonstrating "two systems". If the first 2 years are about defending national security, then the next 3 years will be defending freedoms and democracy under the Basic Law of Hong Kong.

Over 250000 HK people have fled. All opposition press has been shut down. Bounties placed on opposition. And you are not a totalitarian state? All western money is gone and will never come back. The best years of HK is truly OVER. The outflow of talents and their replacement with Mainland Chinese means gradually, but surely, HK will become more like a mainland chinese city, hence losing its uniqueness, culture and characteristics that made HK … HK. The continuing reliance on land sale as the govt’s primary source of income means more and more HKers face high housing costs (both purchasing and renting). John Lee is an improvement over Carrie Lam. But the stone is set for him and I feel his hands are tied and his legs shackled.

The incident brought attention to the vehicle’s vulnerabilities when the steering tie rod broke after hitting a curb, leaving soldiers struggling to repair it by kicking the damaged wheel. The Tiger 4×4, produced by Baoji Special Vehicles Manufacturing in Shaanxi Province, China, is designed to transport infantry with enhanced armor protection. It can be adapted for various roles, including command post, law enforcement, riot control, and ambulance. 🤣🤣🤣

Make it easier and smoother for both sides to travel to the other side. HK prosperity was and is always depend on its connection with Mainland China. So what if HK end up being just "another Chinese city"? Even among Chinese cities, there are 1st tier, 2nd tier, and 3rd tier, and HK can be among those 1st tier cities in China, and there are not many of them, rather than like HK today, having identity crisis, not sure what it is and where it want to go.
