John's the most down to earth skater out of everyone here The hate they get is surface level youtube. They are different, and they feel like my generation's core skaters. My generation watched last generation's core, which is what we know, and it feels like the innovation is all based off how we bounce ideas off eachother, and the fact that youtube gave us the ability to "hey watch this right now" and it's already over, the information we portrayed, a picture is a thousand words, a video is a thousand pictures John Hill wants positive and other people want "Cool" and Cool Factor has a neutral to negative skew to it. I feel like John Hill is so Neutral, does cool tricks, but is positive, the scale isn't tipping in any sort of direction. We embody the people we are around and I do feel like alot of Andy Shrock rubbed off on John, and that's fine. I also feel like there's alot of different ways people can be and You're One of the G.O.A.T.s of Skateboarding. You learned random Freestyle Tricks, You colab'd with people that were interesting enough to understand the whole road is unique for everyone in Skateboarding. It's awesome.

Being from Columbia, SC and knowing John. He’s right about SC but he HAS to move past how SC was before. He was also a very reserved kid, mean to other kids he didn’t know and it took starting his KZread channel/ moving out of SC for his personality to finally blossom. He from a young age knew he wasn’t with “life” and went through a lot. Stoked to see his success and progression but I hope he doesn’t live with this bitterness towards where he’s from forever.

Dude I Loved every Tony Hawk game and I got it because my dad used to skate back in the 80's. He fell and couldn't play music and he played drums all his life and he couldn't play with the band he was in that day, he gave up skateboarding because of that, but he still would watch Tony Hawk and all that. But.. literally he lived in Vista California starting from the 70's to the 90's ish, the bowl skating of swiming pools and partying in the back yard type shit. I was born in 95, but he raised me in Missouri, and Kansas I'm like the outlier Cali guy in a bible belt sea of people, raised like a cali kid and people since the 90's stared slowly moving from California out to over here. Reguardless, I loved Skate 3, got it the last time Blockbuster was ever open... Played the game every day for an entire week, bought it the first time I had money, Literally made skateparks because my favorite part about the Tony Hawk Games is park making, and I wasn't really into tricks. Skate 3 turned me into understanding tricks, I loved making parks right after school and I also made music. I kinda started both at 14. Tony Hawk Games? Since the first one, the same year, I basically grew up with video games in my hands since the age of 2 I learned so quickly even though I was autistic, as a kid Surprisingly I discovered Revive, then I checked out Garrett Ginner, Jason Park, Chris Chann, Braille, and then suddenly Johnny Giger, Lamont, Jerell Ware, Luis Mora, John Hill.. that group, right? for me my dad supports me no matter how I go, and I'm a Furry and people say that shit's Gay or kinda like that but I'm a dude but you also gotta only dip your toes in parts of scenes that help you, let it be music, let it be creativity... The furry community is 20x more diverse and accepting of people, but then you get so many more extremes, Femenine guys, Strong girls.. You get to the point to where you have more of a variety of opinions, and people come from other places, and we lived on the internet But deep down I understand there's a Brotherhood/Chill group, in skateboarding. Nowadays Skater girls are starting to really get good, and I'm like hell yeah, more girls than just Elisa Steamer... I feel like the direction of Skateboarding has went from a masculine standpoint, to an all-over standpoint and I'm more into extreme music and Drift Racing, and you can put anything on a board and skate it I feel like Monster, DC shoes, and Skate made the era after Tony Hawk games, cause it dropped off after American Wasteland, and American Wasteland was kind of my culture, My dad came out of Punk Rock, Metal, and all types of hip hop, Run DMC, Dre, Snoop, Ice Cube, Pac, KRS ONE. I feel like the friend groups within this, there was a 1-way video relationship and it felt like friendship, because youtube let you talk to a camera. I never really talked to anyone, and whenever I speak it means something. I realized friends aren't really for me, but I'm getting to that age where I need a support network and people like you have that because you went out into the world I feel like because I'm so good at designing things, graphic design and photography... I would literally be able to make deck designs all day for skate companies, I literally am so good at a bunch of different things in creative stuff, and I feel like I need to network with people in skateboarding that I used to watch and learn things with people, but I live in Kansas of all places. I live right by a skatepark. I have a stack of DC Shoes I've never worn and I feel like because of Ken Block, Rob, and Tony Hawk, I would always have a spot in skateboarding. It's cool that you came back and talked, John, and bringing people together is what Lamont feels like he does best Money doesn't matter in this whole thing, because all skaters do is learn, no matter the struggle, It's like the last form of Ninja Training, ever, and it's really American overall. Thanks for the vid!

About the skate industry, Imagine the prices back in the day in Europe. No local brands, with taxes and everything prices were doubled. Skateboarding was for 'rich' kids, high middle class could afford 'regularly' buying material and normally the cheapest. I was looking for boards yesterday, we have Europeans brands now, close to 100 bucks. The US brands are now the 'cheapest' option, and still not affordable for a working class salary. That is a catch22 problem.

When John said he gets hate he was referencing youtube as the place he gets it the most. Not necessarily the most hated on youtube lmao. I forgive y'all though I hope those drinks were hitting the spot !

For some reason I feel like if Joa (gifted hater) came on and Lamont mediated a convo with John it would be a great time and they’d be chillin and laughin

The moment I knew I loved skateboarding was when I was at a skateboarding lesson, and my instructor said I should stand on top of the 12 foot vert ramp, then I tried it, slammed straight into the concrete, got up, and landed that drop in, and I never felt so happy till that day. Skateboarding will either teach you to fall and get back up and try it again, orrrrrr you'll be one of the posers, who falls once and won't try the trick again....skateboarding taught me more lessons than my own dad did ahahahaha

I worked in GameStation when Underground came out. Myself and two other staff members were playing through it simultaneously. One on PS one on Xbox and me on GameCube. I remember one dude getting ahead of us and coming in the next day all “dude, I did a McTwist over a friggin helicopter!” I remember being so excited to get to that point in the game. Those were the golden days man.

Man skateboarding is already expensive. I just got back into it and a whole set up cost $300 CAD.. not even including the shoes yet
