Where are the crowds? The place was virtually empty when Higgins came on for his first match. Even the cameras are trying to avoid the sparse crowds. It's a good thing Rob 'Loud mouth' Walker isn't introducing them .And the commentary team are trying to over hype what so far looks like a failure. Poor Ronnie, I wonder what he's making of it.

Plenty players have discussed this, even those at the very top think changes are needed. When China was off limits due to their COVID policies, players were in a bad place financially.

In terms of consistency Higgins exceeds Williams for sure, but man Mark Williams sometimes produce some shots that no other player can imitate, even O'Sullivan.

Selby and Davis. People forget how good he was. A lot of the modern players might have better technique, but none of them have the ruthlessness and ability to perform under pressure that Davis had.

etiquette can be learned, dont forget where snooker was as early as 30 years ago, cigarettes, pints on players tables etc

one way screens are needed to avoid ghosts putting players off.

Should be best of 18 or at least best of 11, -if they really want to see 167. O' Sullivan is able to pot the golden ball from that spot into jacket even without moving it first, but it's hard to get the chance when playing best of 7.

It typifies the whole thing that the extra ball is painted a tacky gold colour.

Are you allowed to try and move the gold ball before you finish the 147 ?

The thing I really like about this is you get nothing for 147...but get that and then the gold ball you get HALF A MILLION. So us snooker fans will see lots of attempts for the 147...very clever when you think about it. I hope we at least one player get to tackle the gold ball...but if it's still glued to the bulk cushion...It's very very difficult.

Have to disagree. I've been a huge fan of snooker for 30 odd years... Nothing wrong with trying new things and trying to attract younger fans. People said the same about adding the shot clock in certain tournaments, but that's popular and it's got a different feel to traditional... A different audience too, kinda like darts. Plus, anything that gets the players outside the top ranked the opportunity to actually make money and not struggle to break even can only be good for the game in the long run.
