I'm 17. I messed up and wound up pregnant. My daughter was born 2 weeks ago today, and this song makes me want to do so much better for her. I hate feeling like a disappointment to my family, and hearing this makes me want nothing more than to be a good mom to my baby girl. Such an inspirational song. Totally underrated. I first heard “Shredding the documents.” I can’t remember when or where I heard this song but the lyrics really caught my attention! I had never heard of him before. I do remember it was playing in the background somewhere and in my peripheral hearing I was like, did I just hear that? What did he just say? And as it played along it just caught more and more of my attention. By mid way through it had my full on attention! The lyrics are so in your face and rude and I just chuckle every time I hear it. Enough to say this is a damn great song…I played it non stop for weeks…there’s so many good lines in it. I’m still not sure what the song is about other than being authentic and true…and then we have this song…Have a little faith….I send my wife love songs weekly…this is one of them…it always puts a lump in my throat…beautiful…and I’ll say it again…a highly underrated artist…thank you John…

John Hiatt has said in interviews that he is surprised at how many people tell him that they used this at their weddings. The song is about a man begging for another chance as his woman is walking out the door. To him this is an end-of-a-relationship song, not a love song. But it is a beautiful song and I have sung it to my wife on many occasions.

I am still a rookie. John wrote this for Joe. Now that is friendship in poetry. I love when such great artists create with a co- artist in mind, even when they can tear it up themselves. And it also happens with movies that are written, with a specific actor in mind. and then many 'remakes' are hard to accept, but a few can fill the shoes. Its rare. AHH, to be at that caliber of greatness. These kind of artists are few and far between, but HERE THEY ARE.. KICKIN hard.

I drove straight to Record Lords in Rockville MD & asked Howard what he knew about this John Hiatt guy. He gave me their demo LP-he said no matter how good this guy is, this record isn't going to sell. He was right. Hiatt has never been recognized for much more than his songwriting, but damn I was glad I had my radio set to that station that day, because he is the shit. I'm 17. I messed up and wound up pregnant. My daughter was born 2 weeks ago today, and this song makes me want to do so much better for her. I hate feeling like a disappointment to my family, and hearing this makes me want nothing more than to be a good mom to my baby girl. Such an inspirational song. Funny to think I first heard it in Benny and Joon.

my best friend is in a depression now. I really want to help him. so I sended this song to him and he started crying because of I didn't let him down like all his other friends did. He has faith in me. And I have faith in him that he will become the happy person he was again!
One of the best songs of all time
My husband send me this song by email almost 8 years, after we just met. I was going through a very difficult time, my parents' hate him (still). I cried my ass off when I heard the song. Now, almost 8 years later, we are married and very happy together, through thick and thin, sun and rain..

My parents are always fighting about things. Small things. They shout and my mother starts crying, then my dad walks away. And then they don't speak to each other for days. Just like today. This song seems to comfort me, 4 minutes of total peace.

This song goes out to all those people who have lost everything due to storm Sandy. Tho things might look down and hopeless just remember that material things can be replaced. Be glad we have each other and we will get by one day at a time. Together we can rebuild.
I ❤ John Hiatt and I have a lot's of CD. Thanks a lot for this music. Greetings from Germany, Bamberg. TP
I hear the Lord Jesus ministering to me through this song!!!

Music has been an escape for me since I was a child born in the 60's. My range is wide and am open to all types however, "Have A Little Faith In Me" is the one song I can think of that sums up what we all are looking for - Love, Faith, & Hope. I love this song and think John Hiatt is and incredible artist.
Very nice song. I love the bluesines of this version, but I also love Jewel's remake of this song as well. Great post. Thanks for sharing.

@Sylphadora Benny and Joon has been one of my favourite movies since I was a small kid of about 4-5yrs old. Johnny Depp is my favourite actor and I grew up watching him early on and to this day. I’ve seen all of his work and this one has a soft spot in my heart. This movie came out the year I was born. I’m watching it tonight 12 years after you wrote this comment and I couldn’t agree more. It’s still a masterpiece. Sam and Joon were so sweet in this movie and I love the message behind it. 🖤 this scene and the song fit so perfectly together. ♥️❤️
This was in the movie Look who's talking now with John Travolta. I've loved it since I first heard it in that movie
These are the guys who should be on our radios, like John Fogerty,Bob Seger, older the better
I saw this on MTV back in 88 or 89.. I was like 14 yrs old. I was totally fixated on the TV, couldn't take my eyes off what I was watching and hearing. Instantly fell in love with the song.. and never saw it on MTV ever again. Never heard it on the radio either. I'm 36 now, and I have until this day had the memory of this song in my head. Thank you for posting!

one of the best songs ever! For me, It's what a modern day spiritual would be. Either way it's a powerful piece.
Always the best version
I've loved this song ever since I heard it for the first time on the movie "Phenomenon" with John Travolta. Awesome song! Simply beautiful.

i love this song...
I'm lost for words. I really don't know what to describe this song. I love this song...I cannot explain it. When I listened to this song & know the lyric..I feel that the world is so busy. Every day is a busy day. People rushing to & from work. Children getting all dress in their school uniform to go to school. Our society is so demanding. But the question is..what happen to the world? I hear in the news, on TV, on the net..all the time, somewhere in the world, people are dying. Love to all.
Simply perfect.

omg I cannot believe I just heard this song for the first time, beautiful song, amazing unique voice, this song never gets old even the music video is pure,
I am still a rookie.
This is a great song. It's also good to have faith in ourselves.

I heard "Full Moon" the first time it was ever played - on an A. M. station near Baltimore-1973 or 74. Puts everyday life into words, and writes great tunes. One of my all time favorites artists.

And his daughter Lily, I have pictures of her with my parents and my dad‘s cousins wedding. So we aren’t immediate family but technically related! I Learned this three years ago no one bothered to tell me that I was related to someone famous! Fun! And he’s coming to my town in November. Yay!
