Still pisses me off that the Connor show STOLE Roseannes genius!

I'm black and I still think Rosanne should be allowed to come back. To be honest the whole situation was stupid and blown way out of proportion.

Anyone can see John Goodman is a decent man who hasn't forgotten where he got some of his fans through Roseanne. So it doesn't surprise me but I have more admiration for him than ever!

There's always been something about John Goodman that has made me want to give the guy a hug; even more so as he gets older. There's an ever present vulnerability in his eyes. He, respectfully, reminds me of a Labrador.

What a civil gentleman. He never once made excuses for Roseanne's behavior, but gave her her place and respected her as a friend and coworker. I think that civility is a lost art today we could use a bit more of.

I've seen him lose weight before, only to put it back on again. He seems to go up and down like a yo-yo with it. I think he's one of those people whose genetics are against him when it comes to staying slim, but here's hoping that he can stay in shape this time.

He is a true friend of hers. He's stuck in the middle, there are other friends. The people in this country who have nothing to do but cause trouble would've hassled ABC and every advertiser endlessly. It's a shame, because all of us have opinions that would offend other people. Not all of us have serious issue with mental illness like Roseanne does (but not surprisingly, many comedians do - that's why they're funny and we're not). After everyone turned on her, he talked about how sad he was about the way everyone reacted to her, and how his heart hurt for her. Everyone else threw her under the bus and criticized her and ran to try to get her separated from the show. i lost a lot of respect for sara gilbert and some of the other folks who didn't say to everyone "roseanne is mentally ill. She is diagnosed at the very least with multiple personality disorder, and she made a mistake that I'm sure she's sorry about". But she didn't do that, she threw her under the bus. Then ambien made a joke at roseanne's expense, when their side effect list includes this: * depression * anxiety * disorientation * memory loss * emotional blunting * aggression * confusion * hallucinations * impaired judgement Of course, they took a shot at her - she made a post that would lead you to believe that she had impaired judgement. I guess it makes other people feel good to see someone like roseanne stumble so that they can criticize her and feel better about themselves. I think most of them are running from their own demons. Especially the huge problem that hollywood has with antisemitism. Somehow, they want to tell us how virtuous they are, but antisemitism seems to get a pass there.

David W - "Sara Gilbert threw her under the bus". I would have done the same thing. It's not Gilberts fault that Barr tweeted what she did. Like you just wrote - "The people in this country who have nothing to do but cause trouble would've hassled ABC and every advertiser endlessly". So what was Gilbert supposed to do? Patiently explain that the woman has a mental disorder and should be helped instead of hurt? Standing behind Barr would have accomplished nothing because of the people hassling ABC endlessly. It's not like Gilbert and the others on the show had great futures and endless opportunities lined up. For a lot of them this was a last chance to make some serious money. Standing up for your friends is fine but when they make serious mistakes, for whatever reason, you have to look out for number one.

Huge mistake! I cannot believe none of these actors & writers that know Roseanne & became famous because of Roseanne did not defend her & were so quick to throw her under the bus. I hope they fail without her.

Welcome to First Amendment Class, boys and girls. According to the Constitution of the US, 'Free Speech" only means that the government cannot punish you for saying whatever you want. However, other people, and companies and institutions have EVERY RIGHT to punish you for your speech. This is what makes me laugh about conservatives - whenever somebody disagrees with you, instead of arguing your point, you throw up your hands and say "I have a right to my opinion!" -- as if that means anything at all. It doesn't. Other people have a right to respond to what you say, to criticize you and your character because of what you say, and companies have a right to ban you from using their services, you can get banned and censored from online forums and social media if you violate their regulations, etc. etc. Conservatives don't like this. Conservatives think that "free speech" = I will say whatever I want and NO ONE HAS A RIGHT TO DISAGREE WITH IT OR CRITICIZE ME IN ANY WAY". And this is just not reality, and it's not constitutional. Read the Constitution again, people.

Not saying that i'd want to see that version of Seinfeld more than the original but George Constanza alone is one of the greatest TV characters ever made. If it had Elaine, Kramer, Newman, Frank Constanza and Newman it would still be pretty fantastic. Larry David has just as much to do with why Seinfeld is so great too.

Division Day Productions Jerry has said himself that his character was the least funny one on the show. That being said, you would still need Jerry to make it work. It was centered around him. Larry David was not there the last 2 seasons and it was still really funny, (Kramer and the Merv Griffin set).Though I do agree that show wouldn't have been even created without Larry David, just like Roseanne. I thought the show stunk without Dan and it will probably stink without Roseanne. You need both of them. I don't think the show will last more than one season.

It’s interesting how jimmy totally ignored TWICE when John said how much Roseanne gave up so they can keep their jobs and continue working on the show. John Goodman is a great man for saying those kind words from his heart. That being said, he and the rest of the crew really have to bring their comedic acting chops to the table or I don't see the show going far without Roseanne as she is and was the punchline of the entire show. Hopefully there can be some healing down the road and it can all be a dream and she can come back but at this point she has shown how far she's willing to go to ruin herself but also to save others in the end. I heard she moved to Israel? I don't know.....

While she was undoubtedly the star of the original show, it seemed to me that Sarah Gilbert was the star of the reboot. I don’t think she carried the show, but she had the central role IMHO. Because they have her, John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf, I think it will be fine. They are so wonderful. But I will miss the Roseanne and Jackie dynamic a lot, particularly the dynamic of the reboot. That was just golden. It’s a shame. I’m not taking a political stance because number 1, deep down in her heart Roseanne is a Democratic Socialist, but mostly because I just LOVED the original show.

The problem is that there aren't consequences anymore. People don't have shame anymore because of social media. People use social media to largely be rude, mean, and insulting and rarely suffer consequences. Some do, but many don't. If nobody suffers consequences of their hurtful actions and words then they will never attempt to see the error of their ways or try to put themselves in other peoples shoes. I'm glad she worked with them to let them continue and to give people back their jobs, but I also think It was the right thing to do to let her go.

@@kaue3i336 you are wrong. They killed two birds with one stone. They made millions off her, then destroyed her. She was always a target. Anyone that is a Trump supporter is automatically a target. She was booted because she mentioned George Soros. Her other tweet was what they used as a cover for their constant method of projection of racism as a tool to damage people. The media is always silent on George Soros because he owns them. You will never see Jimmy Kimmel speak ill of George Soros, ever in a billion years. There's a reason for that. Roseanne has said plenty in her past on twitter they could target her for, it was only the day she mentioned George Soros that it all came down. Wait for any other celebrity to say anything at all about him and they will meet the same fate.

Continuing this show without Roseanne is like continuing Seinfield without Jerry.... it just won't be the same.

Sorry to break it to ya John, but no one will watch " Roseanne" without Roseanne.......the show will never make it......she made the show........she's part of it's history, & without her it will never have that nostalgic vibe that we fell in love with. No Roseanne.........no show....period.

LiveLaugh MakeLove I watched the first episode. I did not laugh once. I also found Saras "emotions" to be completely fake. She did not pull it off.

Its like pizza without the cheese. Wont be the same so i wont be watching. Im sure this will flop big time.

That's f'ed up. They should have stood by her and I would be too ashamed to be on that damn show. Kick her off her own show them ask her to sign it away so they can just carry on without her

I love how goodman says he is the actresses buddy and remains that but kimmel glosses over it. He then states that she gave up everything so that they could continue the show, he says this several times and kimmel ignores it several times.

If you notice John has the same ticks as the Godfather Don Vito... any time he feels disrespected he touches his face. Anytime someone disrespects Rosie, he touches his face. Same when people bring up something that he finds disrespectful.... look over his pase interviews

It's ok he took the paycheck vs standing by his long time co-worker at his age , it's ok to need job security or income. I respect him and his other gigs i do. I think Rosanne needed friends standing with her about her mental issues (well known) and no one stood with her saying anything.

is good to see a man as successful as him just talk about doing the show because he loves it and not motivated by money(not that he needs it)incredibly down to earth man with so much talent

I don't do regular TV but even so everyone heard of the "Roseanne thing". Thanks John Goodman for saying how she made a sacrifice. You have made a real difference in my understanding and positive goodwill to Roseanne. PS looking good John😉

He is such an incredible actor and talent and as much as I dislike Roseanne’s point of you they should not have removed her from the show it completely defeats the whole idea

I just love him. I'm so glad the rest of the cast and crew an opportunity to continue the family's story.

Roseanne talked about him in some interview she was very hurt Goodman and other co-stars didn't support her. And she didn't feel like this cast is a family anymore.

I love this guy. I hope the show is a success! 🙏🏻

He looks in such good shape. The best acting I saw him in was The Babe such a moving film.

I'm so happy to see that John Goodman is the gentleman we all thought he was. Such a wholesome guy. I may not like Rosanne but what she did to keep the show running without her is such a respectable thing to do. And the way John speaks about it is so inspiring. My new motto: "What Would John Goodman Do (WWJGD)"

The show is called Rosanne she should never of been made to leave

John has made so many great changes in his own life. It's great to see him in great shape. I hope all the cast can make this new show a success.

Had Goodman continued his-loyalty, admiration of him could have been secured for a lifetime.

Because Roseanne is the star. Cash the check John then write the book throwing ABC under the bus!

I love John Goodman and feel bad he got caught up in the middle of this bullshit. I still won't watch The Conners, because of the whole situation. Roseanne was screwed. She made a really bad mistake, apologized profusely for it, and this stupid PC culture we're currently in, took advantage of it to get rid of her. Shameful.

I like how Kimmel wouldn't acknowledge John saying Roseanne gave up a lot to keep the show going and keep people working. Im going to guess though this will be the shows last year.

He used Roseanne’s salary cut on his lap band 😂Lol

The best/underrated actor in the industry. 10 Cloverfield Lane, Trumbo and The Gambler he gave some award worthy performances. Too bad he didn't get an Oscar nom for at least one of them, especially for 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Wow...I just figured it out. His role on Gemstones connected with Roseanne show. Mom died. He lost his wife Roseanne who was the central of the family, and he played that feeling in his role in the Gemstones as a preacher who tries to carry on the legacy. Danny McBride should cast Roseanne for the death loved mom.

I was watching Roseanne with my family. I bought the whole series. I love Roseanne the show is not the same without the one who made it all possible.

I loved watching re runs of Roseanne. I wasn’t old enough to watch it when it aired, but I really enjoyed the humor of it all. John will always be one of my favorite TV Dads. He’s just a naturally great actor all around.

I love Roseanne and much respect to John for being such a good friend to her. It was all over-blown nonsense.

I've always liked John Goodman. He's always been a guy that doesn't take cheap shots. All around good guy & a hell of an actor. Everything he's been in has been gold.

@@mikeduncan7552 Her early seasons yes... later on she brought too much personal life into the show and just became a man hater with a personality disorder. Dan Jackie and Darlene were the best characters on the show... although Darlene kind of became a blob towards the end too. DJ was never any good and Becky #1 forgot how to act I think.... Becky #2 never could. I think this show goes on for as long as it would if Roseanne was still on the show. Anyone that thought "Roseanne part 2" was going to last 9 seasons is crazy.
