It’s always really sad whenever the subject of Buddy Holly comes up. He tragically died so young at 22, and yet contributed to and influenced so many careers and artists in the music industry. There’s no limit to what he would have achieved if he had lived a longer life. When listening to the music of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and many others, there is clear evidence of Buddy’s style and sound. What a loss to the world of Rock & Roll! RIP Buddy, you will always be a legend and genius, and legends never die.

If he had lived, I think Buddy would have gotten bigger than Elvis. He was still on his way up when he died and you know his next songs would be even better. His music impact can’t be overstated.

I'm afraid not, Buddy was sliding into easy listening music; although, with the arrival of The Beatles he would have then got back to his roots and who knows where that would have taken him to,

Not Elvis or Chuck Berry or Bill Haly but Charles Harden Holley is the single most influential artist in rock history. And that is saying a lot for someone who was only 22 when he died and had barely broken the surface of his immense talent. John Fogerty wrote more great songs in the least amount of time than anyone not named Lennon& McCartney.

Holly was an innovator as a composer, guitarist and arranger in rock music...just compare his musical growth in the recordings made right before he died to what he did in '56-57. He was developing ahead of his time with "True Love Ways" and other great productions. The guy was breaking new ground every year of his brief life and i'm pretty sure he was the main inspiration for Lennon/McCartney

This induction was long overdue. There are so many that should be in there that are still waiting to be given credit where credit is due. I will never take anything away from Elvis, he was indeed an amazing singer, entertainer, etc... But, for me, Buddy Holly was, is & always will be the King of Rock N Roll in my book. He was the 1st Rock N Roll singer & Group that I was really crazy about. While everyone was so into Elvis, I was way more into Buddy. I listened to both but, listened to Buddy the most. I grew up knowing all of his songs. There will never be another Buddy Holly. He died a legend way younger than any other. :)

Fogarty tied the strings that is RockNRolls Family Tree. It came from the Black Blues and Jazz, a dash of Gospel through the Singers harmonies in street corner Acapella. It encompassed and united Races when the World was Not. Chuck Berry made RNR acceptabke coming into White homes and through radio stations played by white DJs. Kids ON THEIR OWN stopped segregation....TO DANCE! At school, on American Bandstand. Buddy Holly did something else that changed it all. He played a Strat. Every other guitarist including Chuck played a big Gibson. Buddy got such an amazing sound he deserves to be in just for that. And Buddy knew his time was short. He said so to Maria Elenas Aunt when Buddy proposed to her after the first date they had! Aunt said "Dont you think you should give this some time? You just met and had one date?!" Buddy said prophetically "I dont have time to wait!" Congrats Buddy. The Crickets shouldve gone in with you that night and they were there that night with you. But you're all in now. RockNRoll is better having You in it.

John Fogerty looks very handsome here. He looks hotter here than he did when he performed with CCR. Who agrees? Here at this rock and roll hall of fame ceremony Mr. Fogerty is a polite gentleman. I find that to be sexually arousing. Buddy Holly fans who are reading this must forgive me for my non sequitur. If they are annoyed by it, can they please provide a link to another video in which handsome John Fogerty is dressed formally? If not, how about a photo? I can’t find other images, so I’m sharing my observations of Mr. Fogerty here. Peace to all. Stay safe.

"celebrating the founding fathers of rock & roll from the 1940s and 1950s" It never has celebrated the founding fathers of rock and roll such as Wynonie Harris, Roy Brown, Wild Bill Moore, Jimmy Preston, and Jay McNeely (who is still living and recorded "Man Eater" in 1948). The purpose of the RRHOF is to make money by letting people know that famous people are famous.

It's only been 8 years since Buddy was inducted? That means he was inducted in 2008? That doesn't sound right. It must mean that the posting was 8 years ago. Buddy should have been in the first 30 they inducted. Dion was. Regardless of some of the negative comments I read on here, Buddy accomplished more in his short life than any other artist. Three years of writing, singing and touring only to be cheated by Norman Petty in the end forced Buddy to do the winter tour that cost him his life. One can only imagine what he might have done had he lived. Ritchie Valens was inducted in 2015 and I'm sure Buddy had already been in for a while. Dion was inducted in 1995. I'm sure Buddy was in the first 30 inducted. 2008 or 2012 doesn't sound right. Yet, the Ramones, a bunch of Hip Hop nobodies and the Stones, Beatles and DC5 were inducted? NOBODY before 1963 should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It was set up to honor rock pioneers. When are they going to get around to Ricky Nelson, Edde Cochran or Gene Vincent? The reason the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland Ohio is that's where Alan Freed was born. Alan Freed, the DJ that coined the term Rock and Roll was the first one inducted . The bands and singers after 1963 should have their own Hall of Fame since their rock sound is not rock and roll. End of story.

Rock and roll was only supposed to be relevant for a few years then vanish to the ash heap of music history. Instead, the genre has lasted decades and might continue for several more to come. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was supposed to be eternal, yet became irrelevant just a few years after its inception.
