Exquisite performance. The sweet Elizabethan melancholy of Dowland and the lutenists of the time is rendered perfectly.

When I saw these wonderful videos sometime ago - I had to order their wonderful CD. It can be found on their homepage and I guess they destribute it them selves. Pure Joy!

I really like the way the singer and lutenist worked the acoustics of the hall they performed in- very hard to do, masterly done piece of musical art. Bravo....

I saw my lady weep, And Sorrow proud to be advanced so, In those fair eyes where all perfections keep. Her face was full of woe, But such a woe (believe me) as wins more hearts, Than Mirth can do with her enticing parts. Sorrow was there made fair, And Passion wise, tears a delightful thing, Silence beyond all speech a wisdom rare. She made her sighs to sing, And all things with so sweet a sadness move, As made my heart at once both grieve and love. O fairer than aught else The world can show, leave off in time to grieve. Enough, enough, your joyful looks excels. Tears kill the heart, believe; O strive not to be excellent in woe, Which only breeds your beauty's overthrow.

Fantastic rendering of this little known Renaissance song by John Dowland. I am rapidly becoming fond of the songs by this Duo (Valeria and Alfonso) . Well Done. Beautifully performed.

@SSNUTHIN I edit English vocal music from c. 1580 to c. 1710 from original sources. I can provide much of what anyone might want. Editorial adjustments are possible if done with reasonable discretion.

this is such a hard song ! The breathing is incredibly difficult. It's also difficult for an American to pronounce. Very beautiful job. The lutenist is incredibly expressive. I like his ornamentation especially before the second verse !

Hi!! Valeria Mignaco, Soprano & Alfonso Marin, lute,, I wish yours answer my guess, 1-I think maybe this music as the renaiscense inprovisation could be added a ligth percusion or a other instrument like a viola or violin cello or flutes, whatever thing. 2- The voice in that time was less imposted or loud like a child or young aprentice or afitioned vocalist, That was possible? Thanks I wish your answer because I live in mexico and we are far awy from europe

I have been searching for the sheet music for this piece for my voice class and all I have been able to find is the vocal portion, whereas my class requires something for the pianist to follow. Where can I find the instrumental?

This is a difficult and testing song to perform. Both singer and lutenist pass with flying colours! It is time I returned to the early music enthusiast days of my youth. Semper Dowland, Semper Dolens, Semper Divinus.
