John Deere Tuff Torq K91 or K92 Implement Relief Valve Shimming

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This video shows how to increase the hydraulic pressure from the implement relief valve to hydraulic equipment. The TuffTorq K92 hydrostatic transmission in used in many John Deere Garden tractors such as the X400, X500 and X700 Series. The John Deere 4X5 tractors used a proprietary John Deere configuration which was the K91. This was similar to the K92 and the shimming is the same.

    I used to repair JD 425's and 455's. I took MANY K91 hydros apart. That was before I started my repair videos. The X485 is similar to the 445. I never wanted an EFI tractor after I bought a diesel 455.

    Thanks for posting a video on this subject! I currently have an X748 and an X728 as well as a 4200 project tractor. I've had my X728 since new with the 45 loader on it, and I always say that my dealer may have shimmed it when it went out the door because it has tons more hydraulic pressure than my X748 which I found a good deal on it used a few years ago. I since switched my 45 loader to the diesel and changed my relief valve as called for, but I did not shim it. It does not run the loader nearly as effectively as my old X728 with well over 3500 hours did. So I'm glad I found your video, I think I will shim it soon. I just got a gauge for them so I will take preliminary readings on both units to see what their output is. Thanks, Kevin.

    Have a 445 with around 600 hrs. Put a CTC loader on it . I’m new to the tractor ownership thing, I don’t know yet what pressure I have,but will soon . The loader is only lifting around 300 lbs, and struggling. Not looking to break it but just to get a little less struggling. Saw your video of the 332, I think moving gravel on the drive . Your getting much more a consistent lift than mine . If I could get closer to that capability then that would put a smile on my day. I have a gauge just haven’t found the connection hose like you showed. Thanks for the video, just earned another SUB!!!!!

    Thank you William. I need all of the subscribers I can get. LOL That just gives me some incentive to make more videos. The hose is a 1/4" hydraulic hose with male 1/4" NPT fittings on both ends. The hydraulic male plug is JD AM37983. First check the hydraulic pressure and let me know what it is. That little 332 was awesome with a loader.

    @GotDeeres You're very thorough and methodical at these videos. Very helpful. Thank you for doing this. I have liked, subscribed, etc. 2 question - 1. Is it sufficient to test the hydro pressure only on one of the 4 fittings? In other words - all pressures should be expected to be the same, right? 2. Am I to understand that you do not have the THRV installed? Did you shim without this valve and the associated new freewheel lever? Thanks again.

    Have you ever checked the charge pump at the charge pump port? Would like to see how and the procedure!

  • @gotdeeres

    @gotdeeres

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I have checked a hydro at the charge pump test port. All of my tractors now have hydraulic couplers, so that is much easier than getting to the hydro port. You will need to remove the fender deck and fuel tank. Then you just remove the plug and screw in the testing gauge. I made a testing gauge and it gives the same results as measuring at the quick connect coupler. The access plug is a O-ring boss male. Good luck finding that one. My testing setup is for sale. Just let me know.

    Hi. New subscriber here. I appreciate the information you give. I just bought an x595 and my question is about the rear three point. Mine has a cat0 top link and cat 1 arms. Is this normal on this tractor? I purchased it used.

  • @gotdeeres

    @gotdeeres

    The older cat 0 3 point hitches came with a AUC12534 top link. The new Cat 1 hitches came with a AUC12533 that would have a larger CAT 1 pin to connect to Cat 1 equipment.

    Have a Simplicity XL with the Tuff Torq K92 w/4x4 and 540 PTO. It moves forward fine but when going in reverse it is very weak and barely moves. 1st culprit would be the Reverse Check Valve. Took them out but I have nothing to compare them to. Diagrams and pictures are very vague. I did take out the relief valve you posted on and the shims are very warn. I'm assuming that has nothing to do with the forward or reverse? Just curious if you have seen or heard of this?

  • @gotdeeres

    @gotdeeres

    2 жыл бұрын

    My first guess is the reverse check valve is not working properly. Make sure that the tip of the valve moves freely and pops up. Manually press the pin in and out. Clean the ball and seat. The forward and reverse check valves are different. Make sure the Reverse is on the left side. The reverse valve has a small notch on the hex head. Next I would verify that the pedal linkage is not loose. You can download the technical manual for the K92 from tufftorq.com. The shims on the IRV are VERY thin. They are .2 and .5 mm. I would also suggest that you do the pressure test. Let me know what you find.

    How many hours on the tractor? My SWAG is the charge pump pressure is low. Since you have no idea if or when the Hydostat fluid was changed, I would first change the fluid and filter. The tractor comes with Low Vis Hygard, but regular Hygard is also an option for warmer climates. I have discovered that a weak hydro will have increased pressure because of the higher viscosity of regular Hygard. I live near Atlanta and have always used regular Hygard in all of my tractors.
