I recently acquired a 1956 60 to restore for cheap and low and behold the PTO cover had a crack a quick unscrew of the oil drain revealed that the PTO was full of nothing but water! Luckily, we took it apart and while there was rust in there it luckily hadn't solidified, we blew out the rust with a pleasure washer before spraying diesel fuel and wd-40 into the housing. Currently I am trying to think of how I should proceed on either repairing or replacing the cast iron cover.

I attempted to remove the pto cover with the clutch pack engaged but feels as if something is hanging up, is there more you need to disconnect after you undo the 8 bolts holding the cover on? The reason for this is removal is when I turn the pto on I’m hearing a loud clanking only when pto is running

David. You did disconnect the engagement lever linkage didn’t you? Also manual says to”back off clutch fork adjusting screw on top of clutch housing”. I’ll send u a photo of shop manual page on removal of clutch pack if u send email address and then delete your post tomorrow to remove your e-mail address
