UMass grad here who loves Coach Cal. UMass was the epitome of a doormat program before his arrival. After 3 short years we were a top 10-12 program for 5 straight years. The 30 years since he has left, only 3 NCAA appearances-2 of which were the 2 years after he left when we still had his players and his culture in place. Thank you Coach Cal.

@@MJ-kd7dp i actually live in Utah and did when Majerus was here, he was a good coach and did an amazing job in 98' for us to come back in that game with under 8 minutes to go was one of my favorite Kentucky moments for sure. I dont get to see Kentucky much in person as you can imagine but I did go in 97 when they started here in salt lake city for the first 2 rds. Thats one of my fave moments as well. I remember "Cameron Mills from the corner for 3" haha, always loved Mills. Could always count on him. We should of had a 3 peat and won it all that year but Arizona lucked out and beat us as you know. But those 3 teams 96-98 were my favorite Kentucky teams, and the full court press we did was my favorite and I would argue to say the best full court press ever in college basketball. Speaking of that I am glad Pitino got the St. Johns job, I got no bad feelings towards him at all and I hope other Kentucky fans dont either. But I would back you up on Cal anyday, all day. Bringing Umass from a nobody school to the final four, bringing Memphis who was a nobody at the time to a final four, and of course with Kentucky. Coaches have good years and bad years BBN doesnt understand that unfortunately, we have the best recruiting class since 2012 coming in next year, I would argue the best recruiting class ever under Cal even better than 2009 John Wall class. We will see who comes back and go from there but I have high expectations for next year, these are the kind of Freshman that are dominant and not afraid of the big moment. Anyways thats all for me mate. Have a good one!

I always have Kentucky cutting down the nets every year on my bracket. I was raised a Kentucky fan, and I'll die a Kentucky fan. I'm so glad we have Calipari, he knows how to get talent. He's not a coach that's trying to use players for his own gain or ours. Some coaches do, and we all can read the fans that would want that. For what? Bragging rights? If we win another championship, good for the players, good for school. It's not going to change my life in any way. It's not going to change how much of a fan I am either. Fair weather fans can go somewhere else, we're Blue Bloods here and if you don't understand that, well your at the wrong place.

3:05, that is fantastic, dream, dream, dream!!!!!!! 15:00, I totally agree with this, even in my middle school and high school they told me that you won't get to the NBA when they spoke to our class, I mean, this was the teachers saying this stuff, not even a presenter or whatever, the teachers told the classes from time to time, like on career day that you and all of my classmates won't and shouldn't have aspirations to be in the NBA. This is kind of why I basically gave up some of that hope I had to get to the NBA. I mean I'm barely 6 feet tall, but still, I think if I had Calipari's attitude, I at least could have played college ball for some university. I play basketball still, mostly by myself, but I can shoot decently, I'll always think about joining the NBA, heh. It's something that is a false hope for so many, but not for everybody, some make it! 17:30, lol, ''No crying on the yacht.'' 21:15, lolol 04/07/2023, 9:15am

I get what you're saying, but telling high school juniors and seniors who are rated as 4-stars and 5-stars that they have a chance in the NBA is more realistic than telling that to a bunch of middle schoolers. Even at that, some highly regarded players fail to develop and don't have pro careers while less heralded players blossom and become stars.

Yes really. In case you didn't know Kentucky is a university. A university's entire purpose... entire purpose is to prepare young people for the next level/professional in whatever field they choose to pursue. whether that's business veterinary law or basketball. A university's purpose is not to win games or win championships. Sometimes those are the result of running a good program but they are not the purpose of running a good program. The purpose of a university sports program is to prepare athletes in that sport for the next level. If you only care about winning then there's the NBA and professionals

I worked hard and was a supervisor and always gave time to employees and in return they gave me a great effort continually and always met my goals which was my bosses goals. We actually have people who's job is to how to get more work done while employees being watched or IA coming up with new management to work more with less. I think people completely understand what they need to do and there's enough stress and with technology changing at a increasing rate. Let's get back to enjoying a hard life and let's show companies who do well at achieving at work issues vs the Amazon's of the world. I really REALLY miss the old days when players would stay with us for 3-4 years and become Kentucky Wildcat LEGENDS because of what they did as a WILDCAT. Also, by far THE most important factor in NCAA Tournament success is EXPERIENCE and MATURITY that you can (mostly) only get from juniors and seniors (with free throws in the "end game" being a VERY close second). WHO CARES how many one year wonders Cal gets into the NBA...they won't do us, UK, the least bit of good after they're gone! Not to mention a lot of those one and dones are only marginally qualified for the NBA at best (like the ones who in their one year couldn't even manage double figures per night). Honestly I hope whoever comes next after Cal, the first thing he does is take down all those damn "look at all these guys that got into the NBA!" displays/posters/etc and be KENTUCKY FIRST. See all those retired numbers at Rupp Arena? They are there because of what they did as a WILDCAT, not for what they did as an NBA/ABA player. Am I just wishful thinking for wanting Cal to recruit guys (I'll bite my tongue and grit my teeth and with great reluctance concede that yes we do need a few of those one year wonders as well) who will stay with us the full 3-4 years? Who from the first time as a boy shooting hoops dreamed of being a WILDCAT? How about some good ol' fashioned homegrown KENTUCKY talent? How about ones like Tim Duncan who chose to stay the full four years even though he could've easily went to the NBA at least two, maybe three years early? I'm speaking all of this as a UK graduate (class of '03) with two BAs (history/political science); as Bill O'Reilly would say, please tell me where I'm wrong. As Steven Crower would say, please change my mind.

Coach Cal ain’t a good coach. He’s a good recruiting coach. Coach Self’s is good coach. He sent a lot of not highly recruited to NBA.

If u can't respect a coach that has taken 3 different schools to a final four you are just choosing to be a hater. Somebody gotta do it, might as well be you 😅

Calipari made the Bleacher Report list as one of the sleaziest basketball coaches in America. Calipari is in some sleazy company. Bliss, Harrick, Pearl, Sampson, Calhoun, Jarvis, Haskins, and others. Calipari coached two schools that were put on probation. Kentucky even has an assistant coach who was South Florida head coach. The university was put on probation, and the coach was fired. How many red flags do you need?

@@colehays4250 he has nothing on his record. No punishments against him personally. Besides taking wins away cause he happened to be the HC, but nothing personally against him. Believe what ya want and rehash old shit haha, players are responsible for their own actions. Kentucky has had no violations of anything in the almost 15 years he has been there nor will they and they love to target Cal. So its all been bullshit when it comes to him being involved in anything. Talking abt coaching haha I dont know why you are trying to start shit up this has nothing to do with his coaching, people like to say he cant coach and someone who cant coach getting 3 teams to final fours including a no name school before him and since he left is pretty bigtime. None of the schools have been back to the final four since he left.

Yeah, one of only two coaches to take 3 programs to the final four. Wooden and K and Cal are the only coaches to make 4 final fours in 5 years. Since he's been at UK he has the most wins, most tournament wins, most final fours than any other coach. He was first ballot HOF.

I agree. The one and done experiment has been shown to be a failure. He’ll hide behind his mantra that it’s all about getting guys into the NBA. what about the school that pays you and the students, alumni and fans that support you? Don’t they deserve your goal to be to deliver championships for the school? I really can’t stand this guy. Nobody loves cal more than cal.
