totally agree. You can definitely hear the complete rudimentary rythym of what would become BM for a few measures in the beginning...but this is a Moby Dick solo indeed...which had by this time been morphing for many shows...
@leehope6948
3 жыл бұрын
I agree & although a lot of Zep fans see Him as The Best & whatever. This may be because, like Rhoads, Morrison, Moon & even Cobain. They all died while they were young. My opinion is that John was a good drummer. He wasn't Peart, D.Powell or Paice. I just think he was in the wrong band. He would have shined brighter in a heavy rock band, rather than the blues-based former Yardbirds. Only my opinion, but Moby Dick sounds like me practicing my drum lessons when I was fourteen. Only my opinion.

I don’t really like comparing drummers and their capabilities. I love Bonham drumming style. He pretty much invented the Led Zep style. But in techniques, there are a lot above him. Just search Carl Palmer solos with ELP. Not too many people can cover Palmer’s.

totally agree. You can definitely hear the complete rudimentary rythym of what would become BM for a few measures in the beginning...but this is a Moby Dick solo indeed...which had by this time been morphing for many shows...

Don't let the old man in
Dear Editor, Thanks for sharing, although video would have been much more enjoyable without all that sporadic editing. Dizzying!
I don’t really like comparing drummers and their capabilities. I love Bonham drumming style. He pretty much invented the Led Zep style. But in techniques, there are a lot above him. Just search Carl Palmer solos with ELP. Not too many people can cover Palmer’s.
It's a stretch to call this Bonzo"s Montreux...a long stretch.
I thought I read he was using two base pedals in this video ?

Never. Ever. Did Bonzo use doubles...single massive 36" Ludwig with single leather strap drive pedal!👹💪

@@udsmall7306 Actually did early on but the guy's, supposedly Jimmy in particular, nixed the idea. Bass drum was actually 26".
Certainly sounded like an off day for him.
But not all
far from Bonham's best, yet those drums sound great, liked drums should sound, not tin cans or cardboard boxes like many drummers, live.
No one like him
That was Moby Dick
I play the drums like that, I'm drunk and the cops get called, b******t!
