@@TheBigMclargehuge I Am John 5 is a great tune, my personal favorite is Behind the Nut Love or as it's called now since it evolved and got properly recorded Cactus Flower. Honestly if you appreciate great guitar and varying styles just pick one of his albums on Spotify and let it play. The man is truly skilled and his playing is beyond superb, I recommend watching live footage from his solo shows because you definitely gain a better appreciation seeing him play and doing stuff like switching from a guitar to a mandolin to a banjo back to a guitar in the course of playing a song.

No pay and no charge, he'll rock one person's face off in the morning, afternoon, or even right before going on stage with Rob Zombie, whether asked for or not. John will shred and play songs that leaves one speechless. And He is so stoked the entire time; like he is having the most fun out of anyone. Tom Morello of Rage Against the machine will do the same thing. Effing awesome :)

Dudes every so often I still come back from time to time and visit these awesome gear factor videos with John 5. Such as the one I just watched before this video where before he goes out on stage he is talking with Sqiggy and rippn Van Halen riffs (R.I.P. Edward Van Halen). When he busted out the actual 5150 riff I laughed like man I luv this dude haha because he always seems to play riffs that are all favorites of mine also such as the 5150 riff. Plus I luv all the theatrical painted up incorporated stuff in John’s shows whether solo or Zombie. Dude is a riff legend in my opinion. I put him up there easily with the greats such as Eddie Van Halen, Dimebag Darrel, etc 🤘🎸 Just like with Eddie and Dime, you know when John 5 is playing, and is just one of the coolest musicians ever, good dude. Which is why he is a legend in his own right. A distinct style where again you will know whenever John 5 is riffn somewhere. Luv all the bluegrass and country he adds in also. I think that stuff sounds so good mixed in with metal the way he does it. Tracks like his “Hell Haw” jam are just cool and unique. Still jammn “Here’s to the Crazy Ones’s” and “Welcome to Violence” is outstanding. John 5 plays the stuff in a way nobody else does, so again why I put him up there with all of the other shred hero’s. First saw John with Manson like most and then being a White Zombie fan, it was awesome to hear this most recent Rob Zombie album sound more like a hard rock and metal album with John rippn. That 2021 album took me back to some White Zombie days even though he isn’t “J” but if we have to have another guitarist, obviously John 5 works out perfect 🤘and is always great anytime John is able to rip on one of his Tele axes. Was happy Rob decided to take a chill on a ton of industrial stuff and bring more of the guitars back into the fold. 🤘🎸👍

Y'know, I've rarely seen a guy who loves his signature licks as much as John does. I've followed his solo work since I first heard about it being a thing when Sugarfoot Rag hit Total Guitar back in the day, and his albums are iterative as all heck. It's like getting a remaster of the album before with a few new licks. Not to say I mind, the guy can play anything from his albums perfectly on the spot and that's more than you can say for Herman or Yngwie. Such a chill guy, but he put his dues in to get to where he has being savvy and shrewd as well as a good shredder and riffer. Possibly my favourite session player ever, and easily in my top 10 guitarists. I've still got the RG1570 I bought as a teen 'cause it was the model he was using back in the Manson days as my "off" guitar. That guitar toured Europe with me and played in front of thousands of people. I'm planning to stick some Devin Townsend signature Fishmans in it when I get the money. John was one of my main inspirations in the early days, and he continues to be a paragon of practice and patience. And, of course, tick-tock.

I find that it depends a lot on the album; they can be kind of hit or miss for originality in the licks. Requiem and The Devil Knows my name felt pretty derivative, but I thought Songs For Sanity and God Told Me To, for instance, were phenomenal.
