Diese Aufnahme entstand im Rahmen des Jubiläums-Konzertes anlässlich des 50-jährigen Bestehens des Wiener Johann Strauss Orchesters.

📖 Synopsis
Im Jahre 1892 veröffentlichte die Zeitschrift «Alt-Wien» einen Bericht über die erste Aufführung des damals bereits weltberühmten «Radetzky-Marsches» von Johann Strauss-Vater «aus den Erinnerungen eines alten Hofbeamten». In dieser zweifellos authentischen Schilderung eines Zeitgenossen hieß es u.a.:
«Begeistert durch die in rascher Folge errungenen Siege Radetzkys, hatte Franz Grillparzer sein berühmtes Gedicht veröffentlicht:
'Glück auf, mein Feldherr, führe den Streich!
Nicht bloß um des Ruhmes Schimmer,
In deinem Lager ist Österreich.'
Kurze Zeit nachher fand die erste öffentliche Aufführung des später so berühmt gewordenen 'Radetzky-Marsches' von Johann Strauss-Vater statt.»
Am 31. August des Jahres 1848 wurde auf dem Wasserglacis vor dem Karolinenthor in Wien ein Extrakonzert veranstaltet, an dessen Ende erstmals der «Radetzky-Marsch» erklang.
«Er fand rauschenden Beifall und musste dreimal gespielt werden; ganz besonders gefiel das jovial aufjauchzende, echt wienerische Thema im Trio.» (Anmerkung: Es handelte sich bei diesem Thema um das sogenannte «Tinerl-Lied», das damals in den Wiener Vorstädten häufig gesungen worden ist und sehr populär war.)
