I am into cycling for over 40 years, and mostly completely disagree with 99% of the people who make these kind of podcasts, because half of the time they have no clue what they talk about since they have never experienced it themselves.. And even some of the podcast out there from former cyclists are not to be taken serious, because they often think that the sport is still the same as twentyfive years ago. Johan Bruyneel is the only one I take serious, and no I do not give a sh*t what happened at US postal back in the days with Lance and the whole team being doped, since everyone was doped (And still is for that matter. With the small difference that they don't do any blood transfusions anymore but do use synthetic drugs in small doses, and only out of competition.).... But Johan was and still is a tactical master mind, who is far above all the people that currently work at teams like UAE and Ineos. Especially Gianetti at UAE is a knucklehead first class......UAE should give Bruyneel a contract, even if he's not allowed back in the sport anymore... With modern communication he does not even have to be in the race to communicate about tactical decisions that have to be made. Although Vingegaard is a stronger Grand Tour rider than Pogacar, I am sure that Pogacar would have won four in a row already with Bruyneel taking the shots within team UAE. And that's why I love this show....I watch a lot of other cycling podcasts too, and in many different languages, but none of them can compete with this one.

Poor old Primoz, there was he was just riding along and boom, the Astana guy shoots across the entire right side of the road. His helmet was shattered and he had previously had surgery to stabilize his left shoulder. Perhaps he’s concussed or reinjured his shoulder or both. Just bad luck. Remco Evenepoel to Red Bull/Bora is big news. Very nice rumour/scoop. That’s why I watch.

Sad for Primoz Roglic, I can understand that he felt he had to leave TJV (now Team VLB) to have one last go at winning the TDF but many (myself included) thought that he was too old to move to be the new leader of Bora. It has been clear since the beginning of the 2024 season that he was not happily settled in the team working as a unit and not fully fit.

Whose behavior will change because of the Van Gils Capiot affair? I will argue that Capiot's behavior will change. Crashing like that is a strong message that 1) don't stop pedaling after a leadout, 2) don't look behind you in a bunch sprint, 3) don't drift 3 lanes to the barrier in a final. What will Van Gils learn? Don't aggressively pilot your sprinter in a finale? Slam on your brakes or hit the barrier to avoid a drifting knucklehead?

It is heartbreaking to see Primož crash and abandoning the TDF again. Just think how many races he would win if he had half less falls. It is always inspiring to see how he always picks up after a hard fall, which certainly leaves the consequences, not just physical. The racing year is not over yet, I wish him a good recovery, keep going Primož 💪 Not only bad luck, it's mostly reaction time and rider motor skills in question when a crash occurs. Reaction time is more than just reacting, it is also predicting a dangerous situation and reacting on how dynamics of an accident will occur. These are instinctive and intuitive qualities that talented riders have. The reaction time and maneuver decision of the EF rider in front of Primož was an instinctive move and he had less time to react to the Astana rider crash than Primož has. But a quick move to the right of the EF rider became an obstacle for Primož, who had even less time to react because he was too close to the EF wheel. So to escape the crash, he should react at exactly the same time and with the same maneuver as the EF rider did and that is impossible without some prediction of crash dynamics and instinctive skills. The reaction time that Pogačar demonstrated a few days ago, when he almost miraculously avoided hitting a road island, is something that Primož will never have. It is not just about talent, Primož is talented, but it is also about when you start biking to embody the experience into instincts, and Primož starts biking late, very late. Sport talents are reflected through instincts and motor skills, while the supreme god loves all, the rest of the gods enjoy the talent performances so much, that will protect those who give them joy and entertainment more than others. The cycle of luck/bad-luck and talent is thus completed. WvA would already have two pure wins in his pocket if he had not been inappropriately obstructed. He is strong already and just needs to convince the gods to start looking at him more. Just keep doing what you are doing WvA, simple as that. The Tour starts today, not tomorrow 😉 If Pog learns something from a few days ago, he should attack on the last climb not before. I think Visma will test Pog today, so if Visma wants to win or to gain time, then Pog wins today, if not then the strongest rider from the breakaway.

How can you give UAE an A+ on tactics today when (1) Yates spent a lot of energy in the break when he will be absolutely needed in the mountains tomorrow (especially after losing Ayuso); and (2) Pogacar wasted energy contesting the final sprint for no real purpose whatsoever? Both of those things just seem like classic UAE. Yes, Visma used up some energy keeping the break on a tight leash, but they were able to share that responsibility with a bunch of other teams, so I don't see any one Visma rider not having gotten some rest along the way. If you say, "But they were kept at a very high pace," well, so was everyone on UAE.

For Roglic its sadly game over for a tdf win. Ayuso we will see. Remco at red bull makes a lot of sense. Primosz is not a star. His personality is introvert. Next year with pogi with a even better support team, healthy jonas with sepp and remco at Red bull with also bulked up helpers like roglic will be a even better fight. I believe a healthy jonas with a healthy sepp kuss will always beat uae even though i like pogi a lot more. Also by bad race tactics team uae are not clever like the jumbo team.
