I think the Spotify deal is huge. Especially with KZread censoring people, this is huge. KZread has felt untouchable for a long time and that they could do whatever they want. But now with the possibility of streaming companies doing something like this, it’s shaking things up a bit.

@@billyracks My understanding is that spotify free is full of ads. JRE on KZread only has like 4 ads max in 3 hours. I don't use spotify, so I'm not gonna start paying for it just to watch JRE. I'll try the free version but I'm bummed he gave spotify exclusive rights. Joe always made sure the podcast was easy to get. Every episode has been available as a free audio download on his site. I'm sure that will be gone.

The only luck Joe DID get was he was a really good looking guy when he was young, so as a comic *that* got him a development deal which put him in the system. Well said. I think alot of these guys convince themselves that they got where they are by hard work alone. My concerns were that Joe would be told what to put on his show/what to say/what not to say etc. Thats what selling your soul means. Ive watched joes career from his news radio days where he was my favorite character on the show. Im constantly blown away by the quality of his work product that hes put out and all the different places hes popped up over the years with that same consistency. Good for you joe rogan!

Being humble and being able to progress are 2 of the best qualities a person can have. You got both Joey.

There are people who get it, they get the game, they succeed in life.

Works hard but more importantly he is likeable. For podcasts and presenting, which is what Joe does, you've got to be likeable. I dont go along with him being one of the smartest guys. I think thats more comics sucking up to him. But he does come across as genuine and likeable. And thats more important if you want big audiences.

@@aubreydean2246 He does work and there is a skill to what he does. but yes its true he gets paid to talk as a likeable host who ticks a lot of boxes for a lot of people. He probably likes to think he is a comedian but thats not really his wheelhouse. He is like 'freinds' the show or mcdonalds, Easy, going entertainment. Its not michelin star dining like a Chapelle etc. But Mcdonalds gets paid and so does Joe.

So many people in this comment thread sucking Joe off like mad crazy. Look... Joe's great. *The Best* we'll see in a _veeerry loooong_ time. But all that hard work and energy he spent for all those years could've went down the shitter, just like many other people out there who also worked their asses off. Luck *did* play a part in Joe's career. It wasn't the main factor, but it definitely played a key part.

Lets not focus on the technicalities, you get the point. It's rarely about external circumstances, it's mostly about how bad do you want it and doing what ever it takes. What use is it to be thinking about all the things that could go wrong, if it means sacrificing our dreams and purpose in life. It's just a way of avoiding the pain of not doing what we really wanna do..
