That’s awesome. Crazy all that stuff was just demos. I feel like he should have gotten a good record deal and had it professionally produced.

@@ChuckShuteNot sure if you were actually listening to Joey in the beginning, but without making too big a deal of it; I don’t think you understood that he had been saying it very vaguely at being a recovering alcoholic. And Scott definitely still has control of that band- literally every single thing they did and do now. I met Joey in the hallways of the Boston Garden in 1986 at one of the worst tours of all time. Tony Iommi and Seventh Star when WASP never showed up. A really decent fellow. Sincerely, DJP Anal Cunt:Postmortem and Kilslug Sony;Earache 🇬🇧 Columbia and TAANG!! Anthrax without joey was like maiden without Bruce. He’s part of the classic line upthat gave the band the most success, why would they change it? To me anthrax died after they shat on joey! When he came back years later for touring I got the chance to see them which I’m glad off… wouldn’t have gone if joey hadn’t even there though!

Hi Chuck - really great interview, thanks. But - it felt like you were trying to prod Joey about his exits from the band too much, and it seems like he's moved back into a good space with the band more-so than you have!!! I mean that with all respect to you, as I think you're great, but seems like you were trying to get more out of him about the issue when the band is back in a great space and has been for some time.

I think that at that point, Anthrax wanted to be Pantera 2.0, and they didn't think they could accomplish this with Joey singing.

But John wasn’t really all that much different of a singer… lower register but not a Phil Anselmo scream.

@@ChuckShute You're right, but he was closer with the lower register and raspier voice, and also probably the closest they could find with as much name recognition. Scott was quoted as saying: At this point in our career, we wanted a lion not a bird.

@@PowerslaveWarrior it’s an interesting move… I also remember Metallica talking about how they wanted John Bush as a singer at one point so I think that upped his street cred.
