A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ KZread. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of KZread I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on KZread won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This KZread channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different

That's amazing and really doesn't surprise me. He seems so sweet.
I remember a radio interview he was supposed to do back in the early 80's. Joe Walsh managed to trick the DJ into leaving the booth and then locked him out. The next 2 hours was just plain Joe Walsh insanity. BUt what really amazed me was the fact that he only played 1 or 2 of his own songs the entire time. Instead he played everything from the Beetles to Frank Zappa, the Beach Boys to Edgar Winter, and everyone in between.

Your reaction to this song is insightful. One of my favorite lines is "they say I'm lazy but it takes all my time". He's doing all this stuff and outsiders may think it's all fun. However, the work to create music and live that facade takes all of his time.👍🏾👵🏿🤗.

He says now that he was lucky to survive it. He was pretty wild at one time... by all accounts he took his own chainsaw into hotel rooms! There's more than a little truth in this song. I'm so grateful he came through it all and gave us some great music.
Joe Walsh is amazing. He is a phenomenal solo artist and is a member of the Gold Standard Band The Eagles. He is the man that wrote the song Hotel California and New Kid In Town for the Eagles. Was also a member of earlier bands like the James Gang. He is a very skilled guitar player and musician, very good singer but has a lot of quirky, funny lyrics and then some downright and brutally real lyrics. Fun songs from him are Rocky Mountain Way, In The City and so many others. Glad you are checking out the Great Joe Walsh a legend no doubt! Your interpretation is right on. You know there is a Fame Monster that will build people up to unrealistic attention, adoration, praise but then just eat them up and spit them out and even cause them to take drugs and alcohol until they die. And its even worse for people like Janis Joplin and Elton John who had a bad childhood who underneath everything don't feel accepted and are really miserable. They get all this attention on stage and in front of the press but the minute they step out of the limelight they feel totally miserable. Some can reconcile all this but most really can't.
Joe's song about himself, and his crazy ass Rock star lifestyle. He finally sobered up, and things got a lot better for him. It does for anyone who gets clean. Joe is just a legendary guitar player, writer, and performer. From The James Game, to his time with The Eagles, Joe is a legend in the music business.
And as crazy as Joe was, He broke up with Stevie Knicks cuz she was crazier than him. Wow.

I have wondered this for years and never looked it up..thank u for answering!!
This is a humorous look at the spoils of fame and fortune associated with being a rock star. Walsh pokes fun at the lifestyle of wealth and fame and the spoiled mentality - how it's not me that's changed, but everyone else. In a 1981 interview with the BBC, Walsh explained: "I wanted to make a statement involving satire and humor, kind of poking fun at the incredibly silly lifestyle that someone in my position is faced with - in other words, I do have a really nice house, but I'm on the road so much that when I come home from a tour, it's really hard to feel that I even live here. It's not necessarily me, I think it paraphrases anyone in my position, and I think that's why a lot of people related to it, but basically, that's the story of any rock star - I say that humbly - anyone in my position. I thought that was a valid statement, because it is a strange lifestyle - I've been around the world in concerts, and people say 'What was Japan like?', but I don't know. It's got a nice airport, you know... so it was kind of an overall statement." Walsh did indulge in the hedonism he sang about long after it was released. "I started believing I was who everybody thought I was, which was a crazy rock star," he told Rolling Stone in 2017. "It took me away from my craft. Me and a lot of the guys I ran with, we were party monsters. It was a real challenge just to stay alive."
Always one of the best parts of the Eagles concerts!
Joe trolled before we even know what it was. Love. This. Dude.
Joe Walsh - Living legend ♥️
Joe Walsh has talked about this song in interviews and it was definitely tongue in cheek (not serious at all). When he plays it live he changes the words to it. The only thing that is serious, is about life being good, because despite some personal tragedies he still seems to feel blessed when I have seen him interviewed. Always seems humble, thankful and generally happy (still can be a bit silly, but if he wasn't, he wouldn't be him). For more Joe Walsh I suggest: Turn to Stone, Lucky That Way, In the City and Rocky Mountain Way. He is in the band The Eagles, but they seem to have their music tied up pretty tight, so I will skip recommendations for them. He was in the band, The James Gang: try, Walk Away and Funk #49.
I got to meet Joe during his Average Ordinary Guy tour, he signed one of my guitars. Joe Walsh and Shit.

Seriously, that was the life of a rock star back in the 70s. And, for Joe Walsh, he had a great solo career and as a member of the Eagles. But, as you say, it ain't all roses. He was an alcoholic.

Joe got clean and sober in 1995 and has since been forthcoming about this stage in his life. He almost died from excess, and like the rest of us who lived that way, it was an attempt at self-medication. A way to function despite a gaping wound in the soul. He's a wonderful artist, and a great guy who gives back. Still rocking leather pants too!
Joe Walsh and the James Gang were the headliner for the first concert I ever attended in 1973 in City Park Stadium in New Orleans. Lynyrd Skynyrd opened up for him on their first tour ever. They stole the show but Joe was incredible and the reason I went. One of the top rock guitarists in the world and a pretty good vocalist too.
Joe is currently one of the biggest HAM radio operators in the world
"I can't complain, but sometimes I still do.", is the crux verse of this song. I've used that line for years as a signature on-line.

Joe Walsh will always be my all time favorite guitarist.
Joe was one of the great guitarists playing on Hotel California with the Eagles, too. 😊
Your interpretation is accurate on one level, but he's also just making fun of himself, and celebrities in general.
You will LOVE Life In The Fast Lane by the Eagles . Joe is the driving force in that one.
I saw him in concert back in the late 90's w my brother who was a big fan of Joe Walsh. It was a phenomenal concert.Joe Walsh is an incredible guitarist. My brother passed away suddenly shortly after that and I treasure the time we spent together because we were happy and the music was great.
Before Joe Walsh was a member of the Eagles, he was with the band called the James Gang. They had several hits in the late 60's through the very early 70's. Try their song called Walk Away. You will like!
Joe Walsh had solo career, then Joined the Eagles. Eagles were looking for someone to go to the next level and rock out!
You got it! Another song that puts the microscope on the reality of fame and the cost of it, it appearance of it is “Fame” by David Bowie. Not to mention David’s song is freaking funky as hell!
One of my favorites 💞. At the Eagles, Heart and Little River Band concert when the Eagles played some people had a giant banner that said "Joe Walsh for President." 😎💖
If you listen close, you can actually hear the drummer doing rimshots "ba bum, tsh!" after some of the jokes in the lyrics. Love it. The whole song is a bunch of jokes and satire about the life of a famous rock star.
Joe Walsh - guitar & talkbox master.... Check out Joe Walsh on Daryl's House.... playing... This is a great song. Joe representing Ohio. He's still going strong and etc
As others said. Joe is very down to earth guy and he was poking fun at all of the celebrity types in the business. He is a true guitar genius and he has been there for 50 years.
Wacky genius. One of my favorite artists. 🎶❤️🎸
I think you got it right, its satire to a large degree. I love Joe. He added a lot to the Eagles, too, I think.
He's saying that it might look like everything's perfect but it never is. At all. At all. You got it 🎸
I always took the "yea, yea, yea!" Sarcastically. I think you nails it. Most people miss it.
Can you imagine being in the same room with Joe and brother-in-law Ringo Starr just to see how crazy it gets
Spot on! Go listen again to Hotel California (Joe Walsh was the guitarist for the Eagles) and you'll find the content is quite similar. "It's hard to leave when you can't find the door." [Life's Been Good] vs. "You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave!" [Hotel California]
This song is a f**king banger! I was lucky to grow up with a drummer dad who loved the eagles both the band and the team! I've seen them in concert and seen em play football! Lucky girl here.

This whole song is true . When they were in hotels they would get separate rooms and if there wasnt a door between rooms Joe would tear down the wall..
Joe Walsh in the James Gang, Walk Away is my favorite Joe Walsh tune.
My mother bought a 1957 Seeberg jukebox out of an old country store in South Carolina in about 1975. We took off Stagger Lee, Splish Splash, and Personality and replace them with Disco Duck, Play That Funky Music and LIFE'S BEEN GOOD. We surely played this one over 500 times.
What a great autobiographical song about Fame and Addiction.
Every member of the Eagles are LIT!!
Your the best at what you do...nobody has been better at analyzing a song...you listen well and breakdown everything...great job.
Joe was in a great band called "James Gang". Two marvelous LP's; Thirds and Rides Again !!!
Joe was always known for living a crazy life and partying hard. He has been sober for years, but in the day he was pretty nuts. He's describing what his life was really like back then. I think your interpretation of him saying that it's not all easy is correct. BTW, he was one of the guitar players on that big solo at the end of Hotel California.
Your response at 8:00 perfectly alligned with the song. Definitely explore the man's work. Cheers.
Yes, it ist a simple message of his Rock-star lifestyle making fun of it und of himself knowing in his heart that 'yes he has changed' und this lifestyle has many ups, und many downs, that everyone ist not aware, but overall he ist glad he was lucky enough to be gifted with it. Joe Walsh humor as always...He ist quite an amazing person that everyone likes much. :-)
He wrote a really great song about getting sober "One Day at a time." That would make good follow-up reaction.
My two favorite Joe Walsh Songs that no one has heard about: "I Broke My Leg" and "Good Man Down". Another hit by him that most Walsh fans have heard is "Ordinary Average Guy"
joe walsh joined up with Don Henley and Glen Frey and the Eagles. They made Hotel California together and it is an incredible song you should check out if you have not heard it yet. The Eagles saved Joe Walsh life as he was a severe alcoholic. They got him sober and he started playing better than ever and then the Eagles broke up. Then came back together in late 90's early 2000's. Then Glen Frey died and the Eagles are still traveling around and Joe is along for the ride.
Check out his Eagles' songs "Pretty Maids All In a Row" and "In the City". Freaking brilliant.
He is a rebel. He's mocking the rich. He's gone his own way for decades. He has been a star all that time. He joined the Eagles(briefly)and his guitar playing made the Eagles a lot more popular.
The 70s was probably the greatest time ever to be a rockstar- This is Joe Walsh giving us a humorous take on what it was like. The songs that should follow this on a playlist are "Bang The Drum All Day" (Todd Rundgren) and the song I once heard described as "The dumbest song ever written, by the one guy who could get away with recording it": "No No Song" (Ringo Starr) Also, if you've never seen Almost Famous, it's something you can definitely watch with the wife on movie night...
"Joe's an interesting bunch of guys." -- Don Henley
Heard him sing this live in 2019...Pretty Awesome!
I’ve been a Joe fan for a very long time. He’s the only reason I listened to the Eagles (the Hotel California album was his first with them). My ex went to see him when he opened for Stevie Nicks once. He said Joe got boo’d off the stage since he was so wasted. I’m so happy he’s clean and sober now. Joe’s lyrics about tearing up hotel rooms definitely puts him in with The Who, as they were known for doing the same. Joe once said, “The most terrifying thing that ever happened to me was that Keith Moon decided he liked me.”. Keith Moon was The Who’s drummer. If you ever want a good laugh, there’s a special episode of “Whose Line Is It Anyway” with Joe as a guest participant. Search for “brain worms”, and you’ve got it. 🤣 Thanks for a great reaction. 💜
As a teenager, I used to go to JBs in Kent, Ohio where The Janes Gang played as a regular band in Saturday nights. Joe went to school at Kent State University. He was great.
Joe is very amusing. His song Ordinary, Average Guy has a line that still makes me laugh.
