Wyatt Birdwell I don't remember how many times I saw DP with Blackmore and then with Morse, but I'm always (and still) speechless when I hear him playing his solos using the vibrato... I don't like to say this guy plays better than this one. I prefer to appreciate their different ways to play guitar. They all got a unique flavor. #Peace

I love all three of them... Steve Morse will always have my heart.

After 50 plus years of shredding (he practices 4 to 6 hours each day; including days with a show), Steve has had serious injuries to both arms/wrists (his right wrist around 2010). He broke is left arm (changed the way he plays) and has a repetitive injury to his right wrist; leaving no cartilage and forcing him to go from his technically blinding anchored "rolling" picking style, to learning how to play faster parts with a stiff wrist. This wasn't an ego contest or shred off...this was some really genius and tastefull guitar!

On the Power Lines instructional video he mentions this briefly how he emphasizes certain notes to punch through the mix. A true master.

Steve morse's solo tone is soo good

I smiled IRL when John came out, you just know he was having a ball with Morse there. It's always awesome to see truly talented, uncorrupted musicians enjoying themselves, and especially if they are with idols.

These Legends; Joe, Steve and John are Greats in their own ways... Really a previlage to watch them doing their own stuffs in concert like this...

One of the best guitar performance live!!.. Seriously, they were like talking each other with the instruments.

My first rock concert was Kansas during the Power Tour when Steve was on guitar. He gave such a great performance!

Joe is still my musical mancrush. He's got such talent and soul it's almost other worldly

Steve Morse is still so fun to watch.

Can't wait to see him again for the Nth time, with the Dixies Dregs' reunion tour.

The quickest way to appreciate how beautiful and impeccable Steve Morse's guitar tone is by having it in a live performance with other guitarists.

Sometimes I forget what an amazing guitarist Satriani is....

Petrucci idolizes Steve Morse, and rightfully so. He’s one of the best electric guitar players in history.

John and Steve killed it, but there is just something about Joe's phrasing and tone that is so sick. Bluesy but flashy at the same time.

You can definitely see the influence in Petrucci's sound. He isn't kidding when he says that Morse is his guitar god.

yeah, it's kinda obvious on "white room" :-) morse is great. they all are. satch sounds increasingly hendrix-esque with growing age, imho. really nice soloing on "white room" by everyone. :-)

Nacho Akd I'm sorry, what? DT used to be my favourite band and Petrucci is great, but few can compete with Steve's technical ability as well as songwriting. Listen to the Dixie Dregs stuff, mindbogglingly good music.

romaneberle I needed a word that described how amazing Steve and co are, mindboggling doesn't do them justice but its good enough :P

It's interesting to me that so many comments are trying to 'judge' between the performances of 3 virtuoso musicians - who's best, who's fastest, who improvises the best. Why? Who are any of you to judge between them?! 1. These guys ENJOY playing together 2. You should enjoy what they are doing. They are entertaining you - not trying to get your fucking votes. :)

you're right! but sometimes it's necessary to score on your own subjective view.. it's fun to see people show their devotion to their favorite guitarist, they will argue each other to defend their hero. for me, i love Kirk Hammett and his guitar playing, when i have to compare with any other guitar gods, i'll always say he's the best guitarist and i'll let people argue me for that, just for fun :)

Three truly wonderful guys - and amazing musicians - just having a Grand Time together on stage! This is what it's all about in my book! Also the rest of the band - they don't get much recognition - but without them, well....... :-)

Satriani my fav on this G3 .. great skills and sound!

I fucking hate Petrucci some times. Because too many times he just starts running for no apparent reason, and that's when he loses me. But when he's on point, boy, he has a great taste. In the tones he gets out of his gear, in his phrasing, his rythm playing... The man's fantastic when he gets his mind right (which to be fair, is often).

Anderton's has an interview with Petrucci up on KZread now that runs about two hours. In it, he shows just how he gets his tone. When I ran across it I thought I'd watch maybe 5 minutes of it, and wound up watching the entire thing.

Satch John and Stevie...too good.........

I love how they're playing off each other shows their massive music knowledge

The 101 people who thumb downed this need to go elsewhere. These are 3 of the best guitarists on the planet and you can tell they are having a great time together, no competition, just jamming! Morse is the most understated of the three...he seems to be in awe and just having fun. He's every bit as good as Satriani and Petrucci!

Steve Morse have the best guitar solo tone ever!

Its nice to see different studies merge together, Miami and Berkeley. I always enjoyed the G3 mashup including Eric Johnson, bringing some Texas to the party. Guthrie Govan would be an incredible addition. Joe is doing great here, and I admire the Marshall sound. As much as I love Steve Morse, I would mandate he use a Classical guitar thru the entire performance. He could do it, well. His music is wonderfully melodic and complex, and as others have mentioned, forms a great song. High Tension Wires, forever.

Joe Satriani is the only one not sporting long hair and a signature music man guitar with a dimarzio clip lock strap. :D

That was awesome! The best G3 I have seen. Tasty, all 3. Nice tasty and not over the top. Its nice to see Steve Morse up there. I think he is over looked. He's the guitarist guitarist. But all 3 are too notch. And again kudos for keeping it true to the music.

Rick Danner It's actually kind of sweet - he knows that sweeping isn't really Morse's style - Morse can sweep, but he doesn't like to, favouring alternate picking arpeggios (how?) instead. He didn't want to be all showy in front of his favourite guitarist because he knows that Morse won't sweep.

IMAGINE, how thrilling it must be for EACH of these guys to be on stage WITH EACH OTHER?

When you play this song like that, it’s Van Halen’s “You Really Got Me” version, a cover that is wayyyyy hotter than original Kinks’ one.

This is what happens when three of the greatest drop the usual ego B.S., respect each other, and gang up on some tunes like lions taking big prey. Me, a Morse/Dixie Dregs fan since 77', I was stoked to meet Steve and as most people know, Steve Morse is a true gentleman, musical genius, great pilot and literally "Papa Badass" to John, Satch and Thousands of others. I pray his wife beats Cancer as I was so lucky to do. Steve is right by her side---no surprise there. God Bless Steve and the entire Morse family. Play On Old Man, we're one month apart in age, so I can respectfully say that...can't I?
