Wolves are vicious. There was this one time a poor little girl almost got eaten. Unfortunately it got her grandma before a brave woodman saved her. There was another time a mean wolf destroyed these homes by blowing them down.

I've been around wolves many times. Even had a whole pack run right by me one morning while out walking by our cottage with my young son on my shoulders, they gave us a quick look by just ran on by. In Algonquin park in Ontario we've howled back and forth with a pack several times. Fear of wolves is pretty overblown for the most part. Not saying that wolves wouldn't attack humans but it's very rare.

My father lived alone in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan after my mom passed. He didn’t go out much but he started to see out his windows wolves occasionally. Started out as 2 and three together. As the years went buy, the pack grew to many. Ned send me pics of larger and larger amounts of tracks in the snow in his yard. They had no predators to keep their numbers down. If you put your Fido out to pee and didn’t pay attention or let your kitty out to roam, chances are they wouldnt Come back. There was a pretty thick population of coyotes.it got so you never saw them anymore. The deer herd that used to be quite large was almost non existent. First the coyotes killing them off, then the wolves eating on coyotes. Then there was the livestock damage to farmers. Coyotes would grab some chickens or an old cow or calf etc. wolves would come in and kill a healthy cow or calf and come back repeatedly. Finally a hunting season was established again to control them. My pop was in his-late 70s and 80s. He lived off the main road. I was always afraid he’d fall, couldn’t get up and become a wolf dinner. Especially in winter when smaller animals became scarce and wolves are more desperate to get food. He had guns but never carried one. I finally talked him into a man down sensor for the local emergency services. Would listen to me to come live in civilization. He loved it there.

I live in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan and I have seen wolves for the last decade. I spend an incredible amount of time in the woods and see wolf sign every single time I am out there. They are devastating the deer population to the point that I haven't seen a buck older than 2 1/2 years old for the last five or so seasons. In the winter I have a set of new tracks in my backyard 4-5 days a week. There are three packs that howl from their respective locations every time the night sky is clear. Howling back and forth is one thing but from three different directions is really something to hear.

I disagree with what Joe said at the end, if the number of predators increases to a disproportionately high level compared to the prey, then the predators will reduce in numbers due to starvation rather than eradicate the prey. If the number of predators decreases to a disproportionately low level compared to the prey, then the number of predators will increase in numbers due to the abundance of food. Natural dynamics does balance these things out (although human management may be preferable to natural dynamics, depending on the desired result).

I personally also feel like it's a bit better to maybe have some wolves bite the bullet and die a quick death than have a bunch of them die a slow and painful death from starvation later on. It's very sad that it has to come to that, but I'd rather have it that way than have them starve to death.

Actually that's what all the studies show too. Joe clearly has looked at the wolf predation studies. I wouldn't say they starve but numbers drop with prey numbers. There was a case in Canada where they were primarily feeding on moose and then at the same time were also feeding on lots of caribou, which was a problem but instead of killing the wolves, the Canadian government allowed hunters to take a lot more moose which brought wolf numbers down

Nature is just... nature! It can or cannot "work" depending on who you are. If you are a privileged spoiled kid in a 1st word country, then nature "works" for you. If you are an unlucky starving kid who will be forced to essentially be a slave for the rest of his/her life, then nature does not "work" for you. It's always about POV. Nobody has the power to change it as well. There will always be the lucky and privileged ones that will not even accept the fact that they are lucky and privileged because of their massive ego. So yeah. Nature doesn't work right or wrong... it just works!

"Poeple want nature to sort itself out" Those people forget that we're part of Nature, the balance. And we have an element of our existence that no other creature on this Earth possesses which is consciousness. Though his methods are extreme Thanos is probably right. Life left unchecked destroys itself due to a lack of balance between life & death. That's "Nature sorting itself out" too much life is followed by too much death. Thus, the balance is maintained. With consciousness you can maintain that balance without resorting to extremely catastrophic or tragic means such as mass murder by paying attention and tweaking when necessary, like a manager, minimal necessary force/involvement. The purpose of life is to live. The purpose of death is to die. The purpose of consciousness is to maintain that balance. We're (so far) the ultimate pinnacle of that representation.

Usually when people get attacked its by a loaner wolves. Whom is probably scraping to survive and a low population of prey areas. Its all in how you deal with the situation when having an encounter with a wild animal. I do agree with population management. In this situation i dont think it was necessary to kill the three wolves

Joe Rogan will never reply to this but here's my story; When I was 13 I had an abusive mean alcoholic father, I was also 2 ranks away from earning my eagle status in Boy Scouts. So it's fair to say "I knew my shit" and was not afraid of the woods or camping. One night I got angry / fed up and ran away. Took all my camping gear strapped on my back and rode a few miles away on my mountain bike to my friends neighborhood. There was a park / baseball field / soccer field and a deep deep wooded area behind this park which was miles deep. I'm sitting at the edge of the woods Preparing for my hike and locking my bike against the baseball field chain link fence. It's 9:30pm or 10:30pm and there's no lights in this park it's pitch black dark. I hear rustling in the woods coming towards me from directly behind. I shine a light and it stops. I turn the light off and now it's approaching me from the right, I repeat the process and yell out "hello? Whose there?" No response. Now it's moving towards me from the left. You know how a cat stalks a predator and moves up just ever so slightly? Whatever the hell was out there was moving slow just like that and I could hear the dense bush , dry leaves cracking slowly beneath each footstep slowly. The hairs on my neck stood up I grabbed my bike, leaving my gear, and pedaled as FAST as I could across that baseball field towards the parking lot and up the hill towards the neighborhood street lights. I said "Jesus Christ! I may get an assbeating at home but that's sure better than getting eaten alive by god knows what" so I went back home and yes I got my ass beat. Not cause I left, not cause I came back. But because I left my gear and he wasn't gonna buy me another sleeping bag / tent.
