To me, the purpose of life is to give life a purpose. It up to you and only you to figure that out. There is no definitive meaning to life, and thats okay. All I care about is making life worth living and helping others trying to find their own personal happiness in life.

1:53 ... I realized MY mortality after my two Grandfathers, and an 11 yr. old cousin who was one of a set of twins passed away within 6 months of each other when I was about 7 yrs. old. I was lying in bed when all of a sudden I realized that I was going to die one day. I got out of bed, started jumping up and down crying out loud - *"I don't ever want to die!!... I don't ever want to die!!...".* All of a sudden a calming and a thought came into my head, and I suddenly realized *"that won't happen for another 80 yrs...".* I immediately calmed down, stopped crying and settled back to bed and slept fine... lol. I guess this means, if my thoughts were accurate, that my 87th year is going to be a nervous one... lol.

People keep saying this mantra - "only you can figure out what the purpose is". What I am hearing here is that there is no actual or at least objective purpose to life. We only say this to make ourselves feel better, but deep down we all know that it is all meaningless and pointless. We are born into a losing struggle... Life is full of pain, suffering and anxiety with very fleeting moments of joy and happiness. We became good at tricking ourselves into thinking that things matter, that we matter. The reason why anybody does anything is because of boredom, hunger and sex-drive and that pretty much all there is to it.

Human beings are more aligned with nature than you think, it’s literally where we come from, we’re not separated from nature, we are byproducts of nature, technology has only driven us further away from our origin, that doesn’t mean we’re not still of the essence of the Earth. The purpose of your life is no different than any other living thing: to further the species. Humans are not unique or special in this aspect. Humans are unique when it comes to the magnitude of the effect one individual can have on the species.....which stems with the way we go about it. The only way for all life other than humans to accomplish this is by spreading their genetic information and letting natural selection (and luck) determine which genes are strong enough to go on. Humans are unique because we are the only living beings that we know of where one individual, without a single door offspring, can have an instant effect on the entire species with such a great magnitude that the entire species is able to “leapfrog” natural selection. This is because, while our genes still evolve, we evolve at a light speed, rapid pace through our collective knowledge. The man that came up with the cure for polio gave all of humanity the ability to leapfrog natural selection, and we all avoided having to find out if our genes were resistant to polio or not. He could have gone without producing a single offspring, and the magnitude of the effect, and the ripple effect of this “wildcard” he gave to humanity is exponentially greater than any living thing I can think of. We’re the only living thing that has some say in our own evolution.

The answer to life is to learn and evolve your cells with experiences and knowledge gained. These quality you will transfer to the next generation. That way a part of us will live on. Besides that it’s all entertainment and fun. Life is suppose to be fun. It’s about freedom and exploration if you are into that kind of stuff. Or it’s about the decision to not continue your cells and don’t have children. This is a personal choice of many and it’s something to be respected.

Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. (Surat al-Tur, 53:34) If you have ever wondered the absolute truth to reality than Islam is it , it answers all the questions to life of why we were created , where we are going and where we came from. Allah the absolute one creator of the everything sent prophets and messengers from Adam , Noah, Abraham , Musa , Jesus and the last Prophet Muahmmad peace be upon all of them to tell us our purpose of life and that is as the Quran states : And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone) (Quran 51.56) Islam is the religion of absolute monotheism and I invite you to islam to worship the absolute one creator and not idols , humans lr spirits that they themselves depend on the creator. I would tell you to read the Quran first as the first step . You worship besides Allah only idols, and you only invent falsehood. Verily, those whom you worship besides Allah have no power to give you provision: so seek your provision from Allah (Alone), and worship Him (Alone), and be grateful to Him. To Him (Alone) you will be brought back.(Quran 29:17)

The Neo-Epicurean well if you take a drug that makes you think that you just lived for 100+ years when meanwhile it’s been like 30 minutes, you start to not care about death because you’ve already lived a full lifetime in 30 minutes, btw I’ve never experienced this personally

Noble Vagabond - First time I tried mushrooms me and some friends went to a mountain and picked 1000 and then brewed them and made tea with the water. I was sent to another dimension and it was a bad trip. I was around 22 at the time and I thought that I was over 40 years old and had been stuck in the bad trip for past 20 years, so I might as well kill myself to end it. It was a rough night. Took me around 6 months to get over it, but I did, and now I look back on it as a good experience.

Our mission for this brief moment on the physical plane is to accumulate as much light and warmth as we can...so that we become as large of a star as possible floating in heaven (joy, beauty and harmony). This is accomplished by appreciating (loving) this paradise planet lifeboat and the miraculous works of fine art called life that inhabit it. If we extinguish our light and warmth with ignorance (greed)...we become the darkness and emptiness that surrounds the stars...here on Earth like it is in heaven. Love (god) knows every star by name.

Somebody I want to know the answers people say God's talking to him and tell him stuff will tell me then how come I can hear him

I'm so sorry for your loss. And I'm sorry for your pain and grief. I too have lost family and I know how hard that can be. I'm going to try and explain what has worked for me and I hope in some small way it finds you and brings you some peace. I understand life as a gift of lessons. Some lessons are easy and some are more difficult than we think we will ever understand. When I think about pain and suffering I truly believe those are greatest lessons to learn from. Each lesson is different individually. When we lose someone we miss them but we also get a chance to strengthen our love to them. It's easy to love someone you can see and touch every day. But when they leave us it's harder but if we lean into our love. they never leave us the love becomes stronger and we are even more strongly connected. God will talk to you but it's a relationship you have to keep working at. He loves and see your pain he wants you to feel loved and to give love. Try having little conversations with him about anything anytime and you'll feel close to the great creator. Hang in there I know it's been hard for you but you deserve happiness. Get in touch with nature appreciate everything even hard stuff I call them opportunities. Many blessings I'm proud of you.

The issues of death panels was real. They were proposing a panel of bureaucrats who would decide who gets treatment and who dies. I agree people should be able to choose when they are finished but that should be completely up to the individual. This should never be under the control of bureaucrats.

What is the purpose of life is a silly question like life itself .. let's assume we meet the creator and he reveals the purpose will we accept that purpose and follow it or will we disagree and chose our own path and our own purpose .. the problem with life is not that we dont know the purpose .. the problem with life is that it can be too long and too boring so we endup asking why are we still here .. the proof is you wont find a child asking questions like that because they aren't bored yet

There is no purpose only then to compose and decompose, so why live? Well because it's fun and enjoyable. If you're not having fun or enjoying things then why are you here? Do what you like because life will move on with or without you and that means you've got limited time to do what you want, so do what you want to do because life doesn't care. And it won't wait until you start caring, it'll just move on. It doesn't care what you do or do not do, that's for you to decide. It's your time, do what you want with it, you choose how you fill up your life and how you live it. You choose at the end of your life if you think that you've had a fulfilling life. And if you've got nothing that you want to do that's okay too. You can just live until you die and that's it.

Inventing distractions and imagining doing things to gain praise is not the same as having purpose. If we reject a Creator, we will daily and for the rest of our lives, have to justify our life as worth living. When he says he's motivated to make the world a better place, the motivation is not one of caring about other people, the motivation is to lessen his own pain at not having a purpose. Many of us can't quite deceive ourselves into thinking a self invented purpose is real and so we seek a Creator.

In my opinion the purposes of life are: On a biological level to reproduce. (Not everyone can or may want to and that is quite alright due to our current global population) On a social level I feel our purpose is to exist in symbiosis with nature and strive to make living as easy as possible for our species with minimal detriment to the environment and other species. And lastly personal purposes are varied from individual to individual and the individual could feel they have one personal purpose or many many personal purposes.
