Ninguno de los que nombraste, y te lo incluyo a Distéfano para mi, ninguno les llegan a los talones al Diego o a Messi. Maradona defintitely had a way bigger arsenal of tricks and abilities, including his endless nutmegs, heel passes, and rabona crosses/passes too. Never have I seen a player master all these skills like Maradona did, plus he also had the ability to slalom through defenders at a whim, like Messi does.

@@messii648 Nothing new was invented and they're just reverting to the tactical style of play that has always been so common in Europe. Not many players care about standing out, being the different one, like we used to see with South American talents. It's not that no one can't, it's that no one even tries to be that player. Messi has shown us that it's still very possible. It's not like modern players suddenly became super players that won't allow dribble gods to succeed, it's that there are no players anymore that care to play that way. Look at how horrible Brazilian players are these days? They don't resemble anything of the once Jogo Bonito era anymore.

10:20 woa woa woa, no no no, the "hand of god" is probable the most "mediatic/infamous" of Maradona's goals because the trickery he got away with. But his BEST Goal is the one that follows in that very same match against England. In which he dribbles the entire team before scoring. Messi´s dribling goal with Barcelona (which I also think is the greatest) was an almost toe to toe equivalent to that goal Diego accomplished. Argentina is a soccer geniuses factory, and more are in production each day, keep an eye open.

This constant push by the current football media, to hype Messi has the greatest the sport has seen is getting a tad tedious. Yes, he's the best player of his era. But the past greats who were the greatest of their era like: Pelé 1960s, Cruyff 1970s, Maradona 1980s, don't just get dropped out the equation... If winning the world cup was all Messi needed to rubber-stamp, goat status. What about Pelé who won it a whopping THREE times!? It took Messi practically his whole career to win it at 35. If he really is the greatest. He should have been onto his third world cup win at 35 to at least match Pelé's world cup trinity.

So first he scored the goal called "The Hand of God" yes, cheating and in my opinion not worth of being called the goal of the century. THEN later on the same match he receives the ball on his own field and dribbles past the entire english team (goalie included) and THAT ONE ends up being the Goal of the Century. and Maradona did both in the same match for quarter finals of a world cup against the always might England.

The Messi vs Ronaldo debate is irrelevant.. They are two different type of players. Messi is 5'7" small and compact. A ball controlling and technical wizard whereas Ronaldo is much taller, race horse fast at a dead sprint, super strong and a jumper that make him very strong when it comes to winning areal balls. They are just two totally differently built men. Both being masters at what they accel at. Messi ball control, passing nd being able to finish because he is a master at putting the ball where he wants it to go. Ronaldo out powers other players, swiftly speeds past them and has the explosiveness plus precision to strike balls using that power which results i goals. Which type of player is a "Better" player is left up to the situations that said player finds themselves in..
