    Stephen A Smith had the Reyes vs Jones fight scored 49-46 for *Conor Mcgregor* somehow. When asked, he stated the reason why he had it scored like that is, "because Cowboy is a quitter and 'Nurmedov' is a wrestler." 👏👏👏

    Im a wine maker. And when I send in my wine to competition there are over 200 judges. If ONE of those judges is far off. He's disqualified from judging for that year in his category. I'd like to see the same strictness to fight competitions. If one judge is so far off the mark then just have it not count and lay that guy off for a while.

    When a judge's card is so different to the events that unfolded they should have to sit down and watch the fight again with some board made up of ex fighters, ref's and other judges and explain to them why they scored the rounds they did. After that the others should go over their breakdown and explain where they went wrong and why it's wrong. That way the judges actually learn.

    It wasn’t any more of a close fight than many many others. The reason it’s so controversial is solely because it’s Jon. He arguably won the fight. Which isn’t robbery at all. The only criticism should be the 4-1 scorecard. Which even then isn’t a huge deal in itself. It is. But not really. Jon won the fight, it is okay to accept that and I am sorry you lost money. That's not a bad idea. It helps with transparency and sometimes there is an underlying rationale to the decisions that is not obvious to many. For example, Joe Rogan brought up the Jones v. Reyes fight in his MMA Show #90 today. Had the fight continued, it is hard to say with a straight face that Reyes would have won. He was fading in the end. That's significant because time allocation is arbitrary - the promotion makes it up. In a promotion with a 3 five-minute-round championship fight, Reyes would have won unanimously, but something about that feels wrong. Since it is something he can't keep up long-term apparently. He clearly lost the last two. So, applying decisions based on a narrow window is harder than people realize. I think Jones wins more often than not and in more circumstances than Reyes, including with no time-limit or "to the death" as Rogan said. I think we saw the most favorable conditions for Reyes and ultimately he couldn't finish Jones. So, I'm not as upset by the decision as everyone else. I want a rematch but I think, like with Gustafsson, Jones makes adjustments and even if he goes to another decision, it won't be as close. I believe Jones implemented the wrong strategy for a fighter like Reyes and I believe he and his team would not make that mistake again.

  • @allenmk138

    @allenmk138

    Why? That's like asking refs to have a press conference. Not every decision is going to go your way, and everybody views fights different. One judge would give more credit to a grappling, while others will give it to striking.

    Can’t stand “non genuine Jones” He’s a douchbag in my book. However, he is anything but a paper champion. He taking out a laundry list of killers. Most with relative ease. Interesting to note that the 205# bracket is now producing taller athletes better suited to match up with Jones. I believe his time is coming soon but his title defense #’s will be hard to be beat. I saw Reyes/Jones as a draw. I believe if Reyes had a bit more in the gas tank he could have taken title. That’s assuming we didn’t have 2 judges paid to give decision to Jones.

    How about what international diving and gymnastics do: high and low scores are discarded, remaining 3 scores count. Some sports use 7 or more judges. Figure skating moved to the same kind of system after a couple Olympics with egregious judging. As I remember (it's been a long time since I followed figure skating), the obvious corruption cleaned right up as soon as they started throwing out the high and low scores because, if a judge was corrupt, he/she would still have to be in the realm of reasonableness if they had a bias or their score is discarded and wouldn't help anyone.

    We should just let the UFC self-govern, like every other sport does. Why are we sitting around waiting for ex-college football hopefuls who didn't get drafted and ended up on a commission, to make decisions about a sport they don't know inside and out, hiring judges that have never trained and don't know what they're looking at.

  • @FireMrshlBill

    @FireMrshlBill

    Well, the UFC decides which states they have fights in. While not perfect, places like Nevada and California are better than most since they host more major MMA promotions' fights. Stay in Vegas unless another state demonstrates they are competent and follow the unified rules. If they won't work with the UFC or other MMA experts in developing rules and training judges (Big John trains many himself), then don't take your money maker to that state. They can control this issue and make just as much money. I get them wanting to go elsewhere for fans' sake and all, but competent commissions, officials and judges are more important

    Haha, I’m not explaining any judging. Chael mentioned a specific moment during the Murphy/Lee fight in which Cruz and Rogan talked about them looking at the judges and a judge was looking down, not at the octagon, so they claimed he wasn’t watching the fight. The commission released a statement explaining the judges have screens so he was looking at the screen during the time Cruz/Rogan claimed he wasn’t watching the fight. So when Chael said we will never know what he was looking at, we actually do have any explanation from the commission. Not saying you have to believe the commission, not saying it justifies any scores. I’m sorry you lost money last weekend (only way to explain you being so angry at my comment). Maybe next time Reyes should keep fighting and not assume he won the fight after three rounds. Like Chael said, the rules are after 5 rounds it goes to the judges and the judges are subjective.

    So what is that "something " exactly? I would love to hear how the guy, who let's everyone know he has not only a plan but also the influence to make such a gargantuan change , just what the fuck that "something" is. Or are you a nobody who is full of shit pretending they are a big deal ?

    Absolutely on point Uncle Chael ... Refs and judges should be under those amateur guidlines... every job has to have some consequences for mistakes or wrongdoings.. its life we just gotta do better tomorrow

    It was Rogan who noticed the Judges talking to eachother, Dom said they should be ashamed of themselves but not much they could do from the booth..Big Integrity to mention that by both Gentlemen, this creates a dialogue that could maybe get the UFC to try to improve Judging as a whole if the conversation wont go away👏👏 Joe and Dom
