    Tony sabotaged himself by not taking a long break for rehabilitation of his knee and taking the geathje fight after two weightcuts, that fight alone cost him at least 10 years of his health

  • @JJGerrard1980
    @JJGerrard19805 ай бұрын

    Tony over-trained into oblivion and he obviously hasn't figured that out if he's training with Goggins. It's like Tiger Woods when he wanted to be a navy seal and would train with them and go on 5 mile runs in boots and then 10 years later he's wrecked with knee and back surgies. It's hard to believe these athletic savants don't have someone telling them they are doing future damage and limiting their potential with overzealous training regimes. Joe's right when he says it's tragic that Tony vs. Khabib never happened. It's crazy to think that a fight not taking place could wreck a man's career but in Ferguson's case, it's true. Ultimate warrior tho. Not doubt.

    Pride. It’s pride that’s driving them up that wall. They need someone to tell them “no,” or “that’s wrong”. With all the machismo and pride, they don’t really have anyone to reject their dumb ideas. So they push through and come out worse. At this point, there is no one left to tell Tony to stop. He will fight long past his best. I pray this isn’t another Ali situation.

    He should have done that a decade ago when he was in his physical prime. He's too far gone physically to benefit from focusing on skill training. Going with Goggins wasn't going to help but I do think doing that shit after he retires (which will hopefully be soon) may be what Tony needs to not go completely insane. Dude is unbalanced and clearly needs to push himself to the limit to stay grounded. Better do that with Goggin's nonsense than MMA.

At the same time tho, I feel like Tony kind of deserves this; I don't think many people saw Tony reject Gaethje's offer of a handshake after the fight. After which, Justin says to him; "You don't have to be an asshole. It will get you nowhere." Chilling prophetic words from Justin Gaethje. Who by the way, was just trying to be gracious in victory, and a good sportsman. Tony deserves everything he's getting, if u ask me. If you act like a sore loser like that, you deserve to continue to lose.

    What’s worrying about Tony is not his movement or knees, it’s his mental status, I truly hope what his wife’s statements are exaggerations but I have a feeling its most likely true, Tony is a great dude but someone experiencing such episodes just doesn’t need the extra head trauma.

    People saying the weight cuts were the reason for tony losing vs Gaethje are brain dead. As soon as the fight was announced I called Gaethje stopping him, his boxing heavy style was tailor made for Tony’s lack of technique on the feet. Poirier and Prime Conor would’ve done the same to him, too many openings on the feet vs elite punchers.

    Tony needed to change his game. He doesn't have a chin to take the absurd punishment nor the speed to strike like he use too. He could have went grapple heavy or become more defensive. Instead he works with Goggins when Tony has never had a tank problem in his entire life.....genius

    Ferg always trained like an idiot and prioritized intensity over mastering the fundementals. Worked for most of his career when he had some athleticism and could just grind out dudes with pure grit. When he lost his athleticism all of his weaknesses came to the forefront. Never was a fan of his but hard not to respect how devoted he is and how much heart he has. Hope they give him a softball and he retires with a win; gonna be sad if they cut him and he keeps fighting...
