Facts

I don't think Ian would've gotten this much hate if he didn't do the EXACT same thing to others. He's threatening to sue people over "defamation" in the fight game which is embarrassing in itself, but making Neil Magny seem like he beats his kids to the point he nearly lost custody of them and also posting Geoff Neal's mugshot, all those things are defamation done by him so its pretty pathetic to see him respond that way. Also it's hilarious how he called Geoff Neal a bitch and a pussy for pulling out against him, and then does it himself. Everything he did came full circle in a beautifully karmic way and he couldn't take the heat.

The UFC has done a fantastic job of promoting its talent, showcasing their stories in a creative and entertaining way. While Izzy is missed, there are many stars and fights capable of selling big PPV numbers. Although the rating system can be downright wrong at times, making fighters reluctant to risk their higher rankings against lower-ranked opponents, it still provides a system for understanding where fighters stand. Upcoming fighters like Paddy, for example, aren't yet close to the top 15. This is in stark contrast to boxing, for example.

The problem with saying that people should go and help in person is that most normal people don't have the financial freedom to take time off work or school to do these things. Of course that is the best way of doing it, but it's just not something which is accessible to most people. I doubt he will retire unless he gets badly beaten and needs surgery, which would rule him out for about 9 months or something; then he might consider it. I believe he makes $200,000 to show and an additional $200,000 to win. So, even if he accepts that his title aspirations are over, he can still make alright money. He shouldn't even have to need it, but we all know how low the guys get paid.

If anything, it's really good for his earning potential. If he can make it to a title fight, he will have so many people hoping to see him lose, a la Colby. He should lean into the hate and use it to build his brand. Since his debut when he was copying McGregor and all, he gave me a bad vibe. He's naturally very cocky, outspoken, and loves attention.

I never bet on fights, but knowing I couldn’t handle Strickland taking the title from you, I put some money on him as an emotional hedge. It wasn’t nearly enough. But it did help. Might put some money on Colby for the same reason.
