The Nogueira brothers raised that bus from birth, caring for it and feeding it carrots every day. For Conor to violate that innocent bus is despicable.

“He might go to jail” What are you talking about, he should go to jail. Anybody else in his position would go to jail, and so should he. They need to put an end to this double standard. So what if he has money, throw the book at him...

Being from Dublin myself, people like Conor are very good at portraying a 'good man' type appearance when they are not. People like him lie and manipulate people's perceptions of them. Conor is from a rough area where everyone is only out for themselves

Bullshit, Connor never thinks more than an hour ahead man. And as he said himself, he's mostly busy with the next fight, which hardly would be the bus thing. It also did *not* look very organised. They did not single out a target or anything like that. They merely created damage like a stupid bunch of hooligans. Got unlucky how some people got hurt, although that stuff is the risk they were willing to take with the stupid attack. The motive about the beef he had is speculation. It might have had influence, but it may not have been the big deal. I think Bas defended Connor for being a bit on the impulsive side. When these types of guys get into fight mode, they tend to shut off their brain. I would also agree he has nothing but yaysayers on his side and that stuff clouds judgement for sure. There might have been an asshole telling him he should take some kind of revenge. Anyway, had Connor thought this through he would have known this was absolutely the most stupidest thing to do, putting his entire career AND wealth on the line.

Yeah have fun living a life where you can't go anywhere in public by yourself or with anyone else without people constantly running up to you screaming trying to get your autograph or a picture taken so they can post on social media for likes when they barely know who you are. And enjoy the backlash and the insults when you deny their request and they lash out at you even though you've been doing this every fucking day for years. You literally can't go anywhere in peace for the rest of your life. Oh, but you can buy pretty much anything you want, that historically has never gotten old for anyone in his position, right? /s

I don't go out anymore so it wouldn't fkn bother me one bit if news wants to waste their life waiting outside. If they are lucky they might see me open the door to pay the pizza guy. ;) The guy now has a kid and should be thinking of family, It's time for him to F off and retire to be a father, Something much harder than a fighter!

He's a bum, a real life bum. He talked how he had nothing, how he came from nothing and how he pulled himself up by his own work. Well, what happens with a lot of bums that get a lot of money and fame, they turn into bigger bums. They say money is the root of all evil, but I say Conor is a bum who managed to gain planetary popularity and earn a shit ton of cash, which has turned him into a spoiled brat. The newly rich enjoy ruining everything around them, and then asking for understanding when they ruin other people's lives. I hope he has to pay a lot to everyone involved, and then has to learn the real value of money - save it so your son doesn't have to watch his dad get choked out or get brain damage. The kid's cute and the gf looks like a genuinely nice person, hope she gets him to get his shite together. It'd be a shame if one of the most amazing fighters NEEDS to fight instead of wanting to fight.

It’s not that simple. For one, it’s entirely possible that McGregor never fights again, which would be an enormous loss for Dana. Second, this kind of negative attention undoes the mountains of work Dana and the UFC have done to get the public passed its image of MMA as human cockfighting. Though you’re surely right Dana would like McGregor to have a weaker bargaining position, it’s not clear he’d like it at such a high cost.

sybo59 get some balls any stop being such a pussy, fighting is fighting it will never be afternoon tea for gods sake, forget the so called mountains of pr to get mma more mainstream, more mainstream just means more casual watchers. A fight is brutal its ment to be brutal. As for all the bruhaha with all this, it just hypes connor even more, so what if he cant fight in the usa anymore, theres the rest of the world, like macao in china which has over taken las vegas, the fight can be there ufc or otherwise. I can tell you this the ufc will pay out huge for connors next fight or someone else will, today fights are about noteriety not substance, connor has both. Were not know has the fighting irish for notting, ya know.

sybo59 I agree with you but this just makes UFC more like wwe and a lot of people like drama so it’s a win win situation on Dana’s point of view. Conor will fight again for sure. Jon Jones done a hit an run on a pregnant woman and he still came back. Conor will just have to pay a lot of compensations out to fighters.

Conor should be made an example of for this and should do some time for this, he could easily have caused much worse damage than he did and it was only by luck that he did not. If it turns out to be just a fine then that is not going going to be much of a punishment for someone with the wealth of Conor. What is sickening is that Conor will most likely not end up with anything more than a slap on the wrist because of his fame and wealth and the potential he has for PPV sales in the UFC, if it was someone from the undercard that did this you could guarantee they would have instantly be sacked from the UFC and Dana White would be screaming for Jail time for sure.

This conversation is being had by two people who aren't experts in tort law. Rose Namajunas will have a very difficult time suing for emotional damage because to prove a tort, you need to show damage. It's hard to show damage when she went out 24 hours after the incident and performed spectacularly in a fight. Any of the other fighters on the bus, if they want to collect more than $20,000 (which will barely cover legal fees to sue someone as rich as McGregor), will need to somehow prove that the attack cause them real damage. Very difficult to do. That leaves Borg and Chiesa. Both of them had to pull out of their fights; however, both of them got paid for the fight, so they didn't lose any money, so McGregor's liability for their show purse is limited. Injuries to Michael Chiesa are laughably small. They're cuts caused by glass- no sticthes, no advance medical attention. 10 G's, max. Ray Borg, if he has any lasting damage, will be able to sue for a FUCK TON, especially if it impacts his career as a fighter. We're talking millions. If Borg's lawyer is smart, they'll hold off the lawsuit so that the doctors can get a full understanding of the extent of damages done. Realistically, the incident shouldn't cost McGregor more than 1-2 million including legal fees, paying for the bus, etc. However, everything in the states is fucked up when it comes to personal injury law, so it'll be interesting to see where it goes

No this is gonna cost Connor close to 10 million. Connor literally can’t risk this going to court. If this goes to court he could be banned from the US for life. Rose will easily be able to get money for damages. Any decent lawyer will be able to prove it easily. It doesn’t matter if she fought the next day it’s her job and like most fighters she’s probably close to being broke. She can’t afford to push a fight back. Everyone on that bus will get paid if they want to especially people who were getting a percentage of the ppv buys. Pettis could sue as well same as Artems opponent for damages. Connor could easily be facing 10+ lawsuits all of which he’ll lose. Plus add in months and months of legal fees and Connor is fucked. Then you have the fact he just lost all his leverage for his new contract and this could end up costing him over 25 million even without a felony conviction which could also very easily still happen. Then you have the ufc could also sue if they want to but they likely have the ability to fine him already. Barclays has a suit and the security guard who broke his hand also does. Face it man Connor is fucked

Is there a statue law/ precedent in the US saying that individuals who are found guilt of civil (non criminal) charges are banned from the country for life? That seems a little bit excessive. So, you may be right about how much he has to pay, because as I said at the end of my comment, the US is a little crazy. However, I'm going to break down how the courts look at cases like this to see how much he should pay. Let's look at Rose first. To sue someone for damages, you need to prove three things: 1. There was a duty of Care. Connor obviously has a duty of care to not harm other individuals. Easily proven. 2. That duty of care was breached. Again, tossing shit at a bus breaches the duty of care to not harm people. Easy easy prove. 3. The breach of duty of care RESULTED IN DAMAGES. This is the important one. Rose Namajunas was not physically damaged at all. That leaves mental pain and suffering. Was she shaken up? Yeah, probably. Will she get some money for that? Yeah, probably. Could any decent lawyer obliterate her on the cross-examination? Almost certainly. Trying to prove that an event caused lasting psychological damages when you went out the next day and fought the best female fighter ever, AND won, is very difficult. Same goes for every fighter on the bus. Saying you were shaken up so bad it's impacted your life, but you were still able to go out and fight and perform, is a shaky argument at best. Same goes for Micahel Chiesa. He had cuts on his face. He was damaged in that he didn't get to fight, but he got his show money anyways, so he didn't lose anything; ergo, Conor doesn't have to pay for that. Conor maaaaay have to pay for his win bonus/half the win bonus (I would do half) but that's water under the bridge for him. I forgot about the security guard. The security guard has a very, very strong claim, and he should (again, I say SHOULD) walk away with a cool half million for breaking his finger, along with money for his medical bills and the work he'll miss while injured. IRL, he'll probably get at least four times that. Another thing to consider here is the appeal process. Conor's main worry will be punitive damages. These are applied when courts find that a defendants actions are 'high handed, offensive, and intentionally aimed at injuring the plaintiff'. Again, there's ZERO evidence that Conor intentionally tried to hurt Rose/Michael?Ray Borg. The only one he intended to hurt was Khabib, and Khabib wasn't hurt, so he has no claims in tort law. So, Conor shouldn't get any punitive damages, but he probably will, because this is America. However, even if they slap him with a $20 million punitive charge, Conor has the resources (and the incentive) to fight it every step of the way. See Liebeck v. McDonalds for an example of how this can happen, or Apple Technologies v. Samsun Group. He can appeal it and appeal it and appeal it, dumping paperwork on the plaintiffs until Michael Chiesa's lawyer eventually decides to settle. Connor probably is fucked. My first comment was to vent frustration about how dumb the American tort system really is, but I also think it's important to shed some light on a complex situation. Most people have a limitted understanding, including Joe and Bas, so I just wanted to offer clarification as to how the law actually worked.

Joe not only could he go to jail he should go to jail. If I did this exact same thing i would already be in jail. And looking at multiple charges, it’s ridiculous to give him a pass just because he’s “Conor”. And he did it on purpose.

I think Ray will be fine from the time I spent in an optometrist office I saw ocular wounds far more severe than Ray Borg’s yet the victims recovered. One such example was a kid who got a staple in the eye and made a full recovery with 20/20 vision.

Conor is going to plea out and pay whatever court fines - community service - and probation. He'll settle all his lawsuits out of court to avoid lawyer fees. With Conor's sponsor (Beats, BK, Bud Light, Monster, etc) money alone - he'll be able to easily pay out $$$.

joseph traficante It depends on how much the settlement would be for. If it's too expensive he'd much rather have his fighting license revoked I'd imagine. If not, then he's better off fighting because he could make more then he lost for the settlement. Say what you want about him, he worked hard for his money. Started from the bottom. He won't be opposed to working to get it back.

You’ve never had issues with your cornea have you? When you do it usually takes hours for you to sense somethings wrong. You also haven’t seen glass break have you or seen glasses? The glass turns into basically dust size pieces which can easily get into your eyes when you’re looking forward and the window is on the side

Conor is untouchable. There won't be any consequences besides a fee weeks of tough talk. Fact is, when it comes to superstars the UFC, the law, the public they all have no teeth. They bark but nothing of consequence ever happens in America to big celebrities who cross the line. The only line is the bottom line on the account books, it is black or red? Black means no consequences, red means we throw him under the bus.
